I am so up for this if it was to happen my cousin is on the front line at the moment, and all they can do so far is stand by and wait for orders to move in.

The problem is that when one officer has arrested some one they then have to go and take them away which means they are people short.

Have just picked my daughter up from her friends house in the Alexandra Park estate in Moss Side , and three or four mean lookin' lads walked by the car heading for town (who she said she 'kinda knew' ) ... they were all armed with baseball bats!

London's calm (I believe) and Bristol and Liverpool have no trouble as far as I'm aware tonight. The trouble in Manchester is mainly kids but they've caused lots of damage. I think each city outside London is having their night of trouble and then that's it. If there's problems tomorrow night in Manchester I can see plenty of citizens taking to the streets on Thursday to chase off any trouble-makers. Monday's game has to be in doubt even if there's no more mither.

Police will (I hope) have a lot of arrests to process and looters to track down, so I imagine their resources will be stretched to the limit anyway.

That's the thing. Riots always happen in the summer, just as Shakespeare said at the beginning of Romeo and Juliet. Tempers run hot and everyone's outside.

But if most of the coppers have to spend all weekend up all night it's the lack of police that will be the problem.

The upside is that they get a huge and needed nice little earner from City and United so they will be all for the game going ahead!
