I agree with all you say. There were other options. Total embargo of all produce, no political links, no trade, anything but committing to further escalations in the barbaric torture currently being executed.

Do you really believe air strikes will (or even begin to) resolve this issue? All it will do is up the ante. Furthermore by getting involved we are openly inviting terrorist to come here and have a go, even more than they already do!

We did not need to commit to this and I think, like the others it is a mistake.

How can you embargo a non state, that's got to be the most ridiculous post in this thread

Easy... Think before you post.... Adverts?

Come on explain how economic sanctions would work

Well we could just appease them like so many wanted in1939 , or we could take action against a murderous , genocidal , ideologically driven enemy again.
We , with our allies , successfully saw off probably the most well armed and efficient killing machine ever seen ,in WW2 and we have to do it again.

Who is buying their oil? Surely just embargo it they run out of money and resources within months.

crude is transported by tankers into Syria where it is refined then its transported back into Iraq where it is sold, crude is also going to Iran,Turkey and Jordan via smuggling routes, ISIS are sucking out 30,000 barrels a day worth 2 million pounds per day

Perhaps embargo is the wrong word, for which I profusely apologise.... Cut the supply lines and get the other neighbouring countries (that are asking for help) through which oil is transported to join with us, choke them.

Would be my preference ahead of pouring petrol on the flames.

That said, it's nearly bedtime as I gotta get up for 04:30' Hull is a long long way from Swansea.

the long term strategy of ISIS 'probably' was or is to reap the oil fields and grow support, do that and they can buy whatever amount of arms they want, long term if not brought to book i think they would be tossing missiles into Israel

Israel is surely the wild card .
If they see a serious threat to themselves , their response may be pretty serious.

Great another war we've been dragged into. They have taken over about a quarter of the country do they really think us sending a few jets and dropping a few bombs is really going to stop IS? There is no way you can win against them from the air which means the next step will be sending in troops and trust me that will eventually happen. Most likely they will all say they don't want to send ground troops and then after the election British men and women will be sent there to get killed.

lets just let them bomb and behead innocent people without response then eh mate?

great idea

they are at war with us regardless and do you really believe diplomacy would work with that vermin?

better to fight than to let them get more powerful and kill us evil westerners in ever increasing numbers at will

I am not so sure about that, it seems to be the popular thing to say however consider this, the opposition forces in Iraq are being armed to the teeth and are getting the training as well were just short of air power, and from the news reports I have seen the air strikes have already had some effect on IS, you also have to factor in the psychological effect, many times they won't even here the jet that fires the missile, or they will just hear the constant din of the drones flying overhead, in the end that sort of thing saps moral

My guess will be that we(and by that i don't mean just the british) will bomb the fuck out of them and all tactical sites, get them on the back foot and will have an agreement with certain middle east countries that they have to go in`troop wise and finish them off

There is no winning. They aren't just one big army in a field we need to march against they are an idea and you can't kill off an idea. The more bombs we drop on them the happier they get because that is exactly what they want. They want validation they want us to justify their cause by acting like the evil west they claim we are. We drop bombs, kill them and probably a lot of innocent people as well in the cross fire and they then use that to recruit even more people and on and on it goes. Yet another clusterfuck.

I agree

It's not a war that can be won

It's a war of ideoligies that can only be fought for the sake of resistance

It will last decades and maybe will never end - lets face it its been going on for centuries already.....

In the end it won't just be happening on foreign soil

best get used to it tbh

It's war

Us against them, who wins?

Time for IS to put up or shut up, if they will really fight us airstrike with airstrike, cunts.
