I disagree mate. We have no choice but to get involved. The enemy is concentrated there. Sadly some of them travelled there from blighty and even claim to be British! Imagine that ffs.....they'll be bombed by the RAF soon enough sadly

Please explain why we have no choice but to get involved

Anyone who thinks this is about defeating isis have been fed pure shite. It's being used as an excuse to get into Syria after Cameron failed to get backing last time. We are in a cold war again it's just not as open this time.

in the last cold war we didn't have countrymen chopping our fellow countrymens heads off

Fucking religion strikes again. It's been going on for hundreds of years before any of us were even born, and this isn't even as far as it will go yet. In addition to that, the vested interest of all parties east or west, it's never going away and I realised such when I was twenty. Our species is fucking retarded. Bellends.

So true and so sad.

What a weird thread as well. Balti wants to stop isil killing innocents buy nuking the place and a poster on page 10 would 'be over by next week' if someone gave him a gun he'd used on the computer game Call Of Duty.

Our species truly are retarded.

I said it would be over not I will be over, Doesn't really matter though because either way it's absolutely ridiculous that any person would think I was serious.

I want rid of this lot as much as the next man but this will escalate issues here at home IMHO

When they carry out more random acts here in the UK we may regret the action in Iraq...

Sadly we simply can't turn the other cheek

The free speech we enjoy here is also being exploited by the likes of Choudary and it seems (I may be wrong) that we do fuck all about it. I am sure this will stir up tensions even more once the bombs start dropping

This is a big and heated topic of debate amongst friends at the moment and I can see both sides. For those who continued watching the coverage after the two party leaders had left, I thought George Galloway spoke extremely well on the issue and many MPs who took pot shots at him for sharing his opinion were "an utter disgrace" ironically.

The thing that he said that really clarified the issue for me was when he talked about the PM and Leader of the Opposition referring to hitting "ISIL bases". They have no bases. They are not an army. They control a landmass the size of Britain and there are between 10 and 20 thousand of them. They are there purely because the Iraqi authorities have failed its people with its sectarian bullshit and they see almost no difference in governance from Baghdad or governance from ISIL in Mosul. ISIL rule in Mosul because the people don't care enough to fight them.

Yet again the UK rushes in headfirst without properly considering any consequences. Why is this a US led operation? Why isn't is a Saudi, Turkish or even Iraqi led operation to fight these terrorists from within? How can the Middle Eastern Arab nations ever become a stable democracy that we all want them to be if we constantly take away their self-determination? The UK is a wonderful country BECAUSE we had to fight for our rights and face severe challenges on our way to where we are now. If we had a Shock and Aweing big brother we could call in at any time to face those challenges for us then in my opinion we would still be under the full control of a monarch as the revolution couldn't have grown strong enough within the people to where they could achieve it themselves.

How are we planning to find and kill a disparate group of ~15,000 people in an area the size of the island of Great Britain? Think about how difficult it would be to find, locate and murder every single colour blind person there was in that area. There are ten times more colour blind people in Great Britain than ISIL members in their Caliphite.

What key difference does British involvement make in military or logistical terms? We certainly understand that ISIL are not interested in a diplomatic or political solution so we aren't adding in there. The PM mentioned a very advanced and targeted missile that will lessen civilian casualties which could be a useful tool for the coalition. However, unless they are using this exclusively then the rest of them will still be using missiles with poor guidance systems and little civilian lives will be saved.

I do think that arming the Kurds in the North is a good start but as Galloway pointed out, the Iraqi Army is one of the most technologically advanced armies in the world and they still ran away from ISIL so it makes little difference in real terms. In my opinion, we need to take an unprecedented action. Something that the UK has not done in hundreds of years. We need to stop treating Arabs like they're a bunch of backwards retards who can't sort out their own problems and tell them to stop relying on world superpowers every time they have a regional skirmish.

Not our fight - again we cup the balls and suck the cock of the US who make our foreign policy for us - as previously stated how can we find this widespread group of fighters over a huge area embedded with the population - particularly when we employ cold war tactics for a guerilla war - the UK is on its uppers - the NHS is cash starved yet Mr Bullingdon and his cronies can fund another war - is there an election coming up?? Oh there is. We could provide support with our planes from our new carriers - oh wait we haven't got any planes we can't afford them - lets use Tornado a platform in its last couple of years of front line deployment - not in our name Mr Cameron ....... and stop sucking on that will you who do you think you are Monica Lewinski???

I think that would be an ideal situation. It's their land, their problems. We should let them have it. Not let them have it, let them have it. Simply let them have it.
But with nobody fighting against IS, the monster will surely grow and grow. More innocents will be executed as their rampage continues. I think left alone it would eventually take Turkey to be the hero and fight them.

It does raise a question of "Why always us..." Why have we to intervene. If it wasn't for the pressure from America, perhaps we wouldn't be taking this action.

Turkey doesn't need arming as far as I know, and although they hate the Kurds, they should work together on this one.

I agree this is not our fight and us getting involved will not only help IS recruit even more nutters to their cause but they will also help them gain even more support from radicalised people who are currently living here as well. Dave just helped paint an even bigger target on this country. I'm so sick and tired of us acting like the moral police of the world and rushing to join the US in policing the world. When will the politicians and our people realise that we are no longer a global super power. Britannia no longer rules the waves we are an insignificant tiny island which is drowning in debt. Us bombing them will not defeat them and will only strengthen their cause in their minds and I expect several revenge attacks on this country as a result.
