Will Silvinho be the new Galuber Berti?

Why would McGivern play at the swamp? Bridge will be first choice, and if anything happens to him, i assume Lescott would then slot in at LB, particularly for the big games.
.

Not saying he will play at the swamp, just who would you be more happy with - McGivern or Syl?

And its a mate for Robinho not that should matter

Syl,
McGivern should be loaned out, Bridge, Syl, and Garrdio, if he stays.

I think another point some of us have been talking about in the office is that Sylvinho will be a great influence ON the lads. If you are an up-and-coming young footballer in a highly competitive squad, wouldn't you want a multiple CL and La Liga winner helping you along and making you feel as though you will eventually be able to handle the immense pressure that is on all City players now? Once we are in the top five there will be no more "well, that's just City" excuses accepted for players performances.

Sylvinho is not a typical brazilian player like Adriano, Ronaldo, Robinho or Ronaldinho, he is more like Kaka.
He is shy and he´s a very discreet person that does't like going out to discos, partys or drinking. A very proffesional player and he will be a good example for kids.

Hughes clearly doesn't rate Garrido as hes played Richards, TBH and Zab at LB, I wouldn't rate him quite that low but I do think we should have better cover, if a top class prem based (conservative policy but makes sense at this stage) LB became available I'd be happy with Bridge as cover. If he doesn't think any of the youth are ready for the premiership and there aren't any top notch players available then a short term deal make sense. It would be good to have one or two of the younger players training around him, and I wouldn't be too upset to see another Brazilian given the odd run out in the side, good deal.

if he has a knockout season for us it wouldnt surprise me if he signed a further 1 year extension , he will be used if bridge is injured as he our only other natural left back (lescott is a centre back and we needed this signing to cover for left back) garrido is poop at left back aswell, good oppurtunity for the youngsters imo they will learn a shit load of this guy.

We have to remember that Bridge has picked up a few injuries in the past. I'd rather we didn't put Ryan McGivern in too soon, should we need him. I think it's a canny signing, and will obviously be another Brazilian pal for Robbie, the other three having left this summer.

To be honest, Bridge is inconsistent. He has some great games, then some invisible man ones, or worse. Silvinho will make him work harder for his place hopefully. And yeah, of course, Robby needs a pal!

No I think he will be given a run out now and again and Bridge does pick up the odd injury.

Cant be negative about this signing a free experienced winner who will have a great influence around the club whether he plays or not!

Ha ha, probably worth it just for that!

Seriously though, he was a good player, there's no doubt about it. And i'm not being negative, i just question the point of signing him when he's unlikley to play much, and when he does it may be at the expense of one of the Academy lads.

You are missing the point. Garrido will move along and McGivern needs a year or two before he can threaten Bridge. Its perfect, we now have another player who knows what it takes to win the CL AND pass on the knowledge. Garrido unfortunately doesn't have that. Great short and long term business.
