Re: Derby Game To Be Called Off???

FFS, a bit of snow and the whole country goes into melt-down. A mate of mine has called in saying he's snowed in. He lives where I live and it is 4 inches deep, hardly enough to snow a car in. If you listen carefully you will be able to hear the laughs of our cousins over the pond, because they have REAL snow but manage to keep a normal, daily routine. A few inches over here and its like the world is going to end. Pretty embarrassing really.

can nodody understand why there is a possibility of this :S the surrounding road will be ridiculous. they will class it as a health hazzard and you know what happens when health and safety is involved, i can see it being off.

City would pay to clear the roads if needed, they want this game to be played, I could however see the rags screeming for it to be delayed to give them time to sort their defence out. It will be fine tomorrow.

Emergency Weather Bulletin

This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan after a severe snow storm ...

The Mining Journal,Marquette, MI

WEATHER BULLETIN

Up here in the Northern part of Michigan we just recovered from a Historic event --- may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a historic blizzard of up to 14" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.

FYI:

Obama did not come.

FEMA did nothing.

No one howled for the government.

No one blamed the government.

No one even uttered an expletive on TV.

Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit.

Our Mayors did not blame Obama or anyone else.

Our Governor did not blame Obama or anyone else either.

CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC did not visit - or even report on this category 5snow storm.

Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.

No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.

No one looted.

Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something.

Nobody expected the government to do anything either.

No Larry King, No Bill O'Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No Geraldo Rivera.

No Shaun Penn, No Barbara Striesand,
No Brad Pitts, No Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water.

Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.

The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a penny.

Local restaurants made food, and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snow bound families..

Families took in the stranded people - total strangers.

We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns.

We put on an extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die".

We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for 'sittin at home' checks.

Even though a Category 5 blizzard of this scale is not usual, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

but we don't get it often so why prepare too much? everybody would be moaning that we spend too much on preparing if it didnt happen :S we're not in work, so kick back and chill the fcuk down :)

pointless attention seeking thread from a poster with an attention seeking affliction and sadly a history of it.

Who would City pay to do this though? All the available equipment will already be in use as the council try to get the city up and running again. The football will be deemed as non-essential in the grand scheme of things.

Plus, we have a lot of injuries ourselves. A delay isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Tbf I live in Salford and it's 5" here... I'm snowed in, I cant get in the car never mind move the fucker. Watched 3 people try to get off their drives and I had to go out to help one guy move his car by pushing it after we had dug it out a bit first. With regards to "over the pond" you forget they have this every year and have snow ploughs doing the rounds, even on the smaller roads. I know because my uncle lives in Canada and he is the snow plough driver in the winter for his area seen as he's retired and nothing else to do! No trams, planes or busses near me today either plus the site I'm on has closed for the day due to H&S. So not really embarrassing is it.
