Will we ever be rubbish again?

Wouldnt be a problem if we became a mid table team again , but it would be far more acceptable if we had a nucleus of local/academy players , it was hard work in from mid 80's onwards watching the team , but one of the upliftng times was seeing the local lads from '86 youth team emerging , i was just as proud of those players as i am today of our current squad. If players like Foden ,Doyle etc were giving a 100% in a blue shirt in the future and we were winning nowt , it would be Ok by me.

I get what you're saying and I don't disagree, but I would argue that Pep already did that at Barcelona (he left a legacy in place, with an ostensibly seamless transition to Villanova.) There's still a difference when someone takes the reigns and when Guardiola himself is coaching.

We could immediately see a difference between that Villanova team and Barcelona of Pep. They were still excellent as they won the league but they played more horizontally and didn't press as much. They were destroyed in the Champions League and outplayed by Milan in the round before, while relying on individual magic by Messi to bail them out.

In Catalonia, people still look back at the Guardiola years as the golden period. Even with the success that followed, it was never quite the same. And that is what I meant when I said that people should enjoy the moment before it passes.

Exactly Mr Feeny. Pep may be on the brink of making us European champs and for many of us it may be once in a lifetime opportunity. These are supposed to be happy days.

This might be the best City team we ever see. It's certainly the best in our history.

It will be very difficult to improve on and a drop off is almost a certainty but rubbish is too much of a drop. It's too late for us to be rubbish we may drop to good.

‘Ever’ is a very long time but I can all but guarantee we won’t be in League 1 any time soon

It’s all relative. I’d say we were rubbish in Pelligrini’s last season but we still finished above United!

Existence is cyclical my friends.

Now we are in the boom, next comes hedonism (what the rags done) then the fall.

Enjoy it whilst it lasts as nothing lasts forever

Football goes in cycles. Teams that are on top at one moment and playing scintillating football will - at some point - struggle. It happens with every team, in every sport. I think that's why it's important to enjoy the moment. It isn't just that the team is winning and breaking records in the process, but about the way they're doing it.

You're watching some of the most aesthetically pleasing football that there's ever been in English football, and it won't last forever. Just as with generational athletes like Messi and Lebron James, I think people should soak this in and enjoy the moment. You won't realize how good this is until it's over.
yes, the football we are playing at the moment will not last forever but the memories will. We are creating memories that we will reminisce about in our old age. So soak it blues, enjoy it and make sure you always remember it!

I started watching City towards the end of the 1962-3 season when they were clearly destined for relegation. I missed very few matches over the next twelve years or so before moving away from Manchester.

I could cope with poor results but not the sort of mind-numbing football that Mourinho turns out at United (and Pearce did at City earlier).

It's a 500 mile round trip to attend home matches for me.

I am confident for the future as long as City do not fall into the hands of a bunch of corporate leeches like the Glazers.

Another glory

Even when we were shit it was a good craic. United fans just seem miserable because they're not used to it and feel entitled to win things, it's hilarious to watch

It would be hard to go back to those days after tasting the glory. Back then we knew nothing else. Personally I can’t ever see us falling below an established PL team challenging for European places. Our owners have laid the foundations to ensure this is how it will be
