Will we ever be rubbish again?

“Shite” is an elastic term.

Utd are still potential top 4 material, rich, well supported, noodled up and credible candidates for deep cup runs. If that’s shite, OK but it’s not the end of the world. Third level football with journeyman players, on the other hand, is grade A shite.

After watching the first half of the Everton v Palace game, which is absolutely dire, got me thinking how on earth as fans ware we going to cope, having watched some of the finest football ever, when the time arrives ?
Its going to be difficult unless we can find a new Pep,when he eventually leaves.
His legacy is hopefully going to be carried on by his new number two,who appears to be well liked by most of players, but it can`t be a guaranteed success from him.
I hope as fans we remember not to come over like todays Rags, bitter and full of a sense of "we shouldn`t be this bad" because of who we are.
Pityful twats !
I hope that we don`t become another shit team for donkeys years.
No doubt it will happen.
GULP !!

You'd think we was, If you dare venture into any matchday thread.

There's no chance of the 90's and 2000's prior to the takeover repeating itself ever. With the investment and infrastructure in place, that's just not going to happen. Missing out on the top 4 will be the worse it can get, and that will only be a blip, the people who run the club now just won't allow terminal decline.

Of course we will be shite again one day.

Life moves pretty fast. If you’d told me 20 years ago that we’d get 100 points in the PL, all the pubs would be closing down and I’d be carrying around a little device that let’s me see a video of our left back filming himself with a graphic on top that made him look like a cartoon dog, I’d have thought you were a loon bomb.

Who knows what the world will look like in 20 years, but it will be unrecognisable from today.

I went to a cup tie at Maine Road many years ago against Leeds. It was in the days of Bishop etc. and they had Harry Kewell etc. It ended 5-2 or 4-1 to Leeds, something like that. I thought Leeds were fantastic, playing scintillating football. I remember thinking that even if we did get back to the premier league, how could we possibly compete against teams like that?

Not in my wildest dreams.........
Just goes to show.

Interesting thread, and makes you appreciate what we're witnessing right now.
remember the game and having the exact same feeling think it was 5-2 and we played well but the gulf in quality was obvious. At that point we were on our way to successive promotions under Uncle Joe but that game brought me down to earth alright

Watching City the last couple of seasons has almost rendered my sky and bt subscription redundant as, using today's game as an example it is so poor in comparison. I used to enjoy watching Barcelona as it was so much better than anything we got in England

Of course we will be. Nobody thought the rags would be shit again - it was inconceivable. But things change quickly in football. One poor managerial appointment and it can spiral pretty quickly. The only way is down after Pep when you think about it! He is coaching perfection.
