Will we win the league this season?

I don't think so. I'm concerned by a lot of small details that's going on with City. This feels a lot like we're looking at short term focuses rather than long term gains as we always have done. Liverpool have a formidable squad. Arsenal + an Isak are going to be very strong. I think even our best squad under Pep wouldn't run away with this league and we'd be in a fight.

Pep's new staff signing 1+1 contracts to match Pep isn't a good message. Our captain running down his deal isn't a good message. Us not buying from the absolute top table isn't a good message. Us having small bits of complacency such as allowing Foden to get into the 18 month contract window isn't a good message.

I feel it's a year or two too early for us and that the executive team may well have taken their eye off the ball a bit. The other two teams are absolutely primed and ready to go and we're still fuzzy around the edges with a bloated squad and questionable quality in key areas.
Short term yet we are making great long term signings

Right now it’s hard to tell. I think a lot of people are underestimating the mammoth task we had of replacing KDB and with Cherki, it’s a big gamble even though I see promising signs.

We won it in a season when Kev was out for 5 or 6 months.

Incredible player but the success of the club isn't just down to him.

In 2018-19, we had David Silva when he was injured. In 2023-24, it’s only when KDB came back that we went on a winning streak. So he was hugely influential. There was also the X factor of him being on the pitch which made teams shit their pants.

We had Phil who was the best in the league that season and was far more influential than Kev, even in the run in

That's why it's not about losing Kev, it's about the likes of Phil stepping up again.

He's gone. We won a league before him and we will win leagues after him if our players like Foden perform how they can

Maybe.

Statistically, it would be very difficult, but it’s going to come down to how well the 16 gel and how many injuries we get. Liverpool have to be pre-season favorites, especially with the business they’ve done to add to the team. However, Van Dyke is another year older and their back line is in flux.

It’s going to come down to who has the best defensive record.

I reckon Liverpool are going to miss Arnold and Robertson as their full backs. Those 2 created a LOT of chances. They're always high up in the list of chances created. Whatever you think of them as players, they worked perfectly for that team. Replacing them with full backs who create as much isn't going to be easy, unless their manager is looking to introduce a new style of play. If he is, then that's a gamble, changing how the current champions play while some of their oldest/biggest names are still knocking about.

If he doesn't change style and just hopes to replace the full backs, ones that are proven to create a lot of chances every season, then he better hope his new players can, or they may end up just looking a less threatening version of what they were.

We have to start taking points off Liverpool, United and Arsenal. We have done poorly against them for the last couple of years and lost the aura we had in the past.
If we come away from Anfield in early Feb with a positive result and within 5 points of the leaders we'll do it, I think.

Yes we will, once all the bullshit over the charges has a line under it, and we don’t have to “under perform” like we evidently was told to, all will be back to being good

See it a bit similar to last year tbh. This tournament will have an effect on our season. Arsenal and Liverpool players are enjoying a full rest. We had control of lots of games but when tiredness kicks in, concentration goes and mistakes cost us. Remember that 10 game steak without a win? That kind of stuff

Hard to see past Liverpool again as they have goal scorers right throughout their team and have added more quality and if Arsenal land a top striker then they will push the Dippers close.

We should be better than last season but still a severe lack of goals in our team esp with a misfiring Haaland. Still need a proper right back also.

It surely can’t be similar to last season with some of the results we had, I mean let’s take a few examples

0-4 at home to Spurs- really?

1-2 at home to rags -How the fuck?

1-0 away at Forest - what the fuck?

2-1 away at Bournemouth - as if

1-1 home to Everton - give over

2-2 away to Brentford - 2-0 up with 8 mins left- bollocks

Not to mention the dismal displays in the CL, or the icing on the cake a 1-0 loss to Crystal fucking Palace in the cup final, unbelievable

That’s just taking a few examples, we were instructed I’m convinced, and we said we will as long as we get a CL spot, they said fine but finish 3rd to make it look realistic

This season WILL be different in all comps

Depends on Rodri staying fit for the whole season. He will make the difference if, and it’s a big if, considering his injury, he can play like he used to play throughout the season. TBH, I’m dreading him breaking down again with the same injury. I hope to God he doesn’t.
well your a ray of sunshine on a manchester morning ffs!

Just think where we might have been without that 10 game losing streak...

So, after the rebuild, hoping that our experienced stars will be back to near top form as they have new quality and legs/speed to spread the load. Plus a load more depth and ability to beat a man than last year...plus Rodri!!

I think we could put a big challenge in this year.
