Will we win the league this season?

Are you one of these snowflakes who gets upset when someone has a different opinion ?

How many times you seen him play a full 90 minutes live ? Less than a handful I imagine. So you're basing your opinion on what ..... you tube clips, Wolves away ? So you're rating a player on fuck all real evidence. Go back to YouTube mate.
The amount of times you make contradicting statements is astounding.

You’re literally imagining things (your words).

Just because you haven’t seen him play many times doesn’t mean other people haven’t. He’s been playing top flight football since he was 16. That’s 5 years of football.

We literally pulled out of signing Wirtz to sign Cherki. Do you think our scouts have only seen him play a few times ffs.

In my humble opinion, Arsenal will flop, plain and simple. Forget the players they have, their two biggest problems are:

1) The weight of expectation from their fans, followed by the chaos when the fail (Arsenal TV - say no more).

2) Their over emotional manager and the impact he has on the rest of the club. He's either up in the clouds or down in the dumps, no middle ground.

Now whether we can be up there to challenge if I am right, that's a different matter.
I agree and they are a very emotional side, the problem they have had is being up against us and then Liverpool who walked it. If Liverpools drop continues, and I don't think we are ready for a run in, that pressure may not be as intense if they are comfortably clear.

I think it's a myth!
I think there’s an extremely poor culture of mental defeatism at Manchester City Football Club when it comes to Anfield. You only have to see the reaction on this very forum when we drew Liverpool in the 2017-18 Champions League quarter final. It was like we’d lost the tie on the day of the draw. Even Txiki’s face when the draw was made was ‘fucking hell we’re out’ written on his face.

We have just 19 wins in the 113 games we’ve played there. 10 of those were before 1938, 16 before 1957, only 3 wins in our last 60 visits there and one of those was behind closed doors, with no wins there in front of fans in the takeover era.

We do have a good recent record at the Etihad against them though.

Pep’s record at Anfield and against Spurs in general, then in previous eras, Mancini’s record at Goodison and The Britannia suggest otherwise!
Yeah, but equally, if you look at every possible fixture historically for patterns, you're bound to find some. Doesn't make it predictive. But for another thread perhaps.

Recent record is predictive hence why there’s such thing as a bogey team in football.

How much would you bet on Villa or Liverpool getting at least a draw in those fixtures? If you are reasonable, you wouldn't bet on it precisely because the predictive power of recent records is rather weak.

I think we are likely to be favourites in both games. This doesn't mean much. We may lose both. But it means the bookies don't take recent results between teams very seriously.

No agenda just not a naive fanboy

I assume Lyon's difficulties would have sparked interest amongst other clubs ..... did anyone else bid for him ?

Pep's never signed a player who didn't produce ??
Your argument then is that we signed him all too readily and that Pep has made poor signings before. Weak.

I agree they're tough fixtures, but "recent record" is a rubbish reason.

I don't think there's anything about "recent records" which is predictive, beyond the fundamental quality of the teams involved. It's just soothsaying.
Well I think there is more to it than you suggest. Our only win at the dippers in a long long time was in an empty stadium. Clearly we get intimidated, violently on one notable occasion, when we go there and often lose even though we are often clearly the better team. I don't expect us to improve upon this record anytime soon either. This means something beyond the "fundamental quality" must be involved.
Villa is I think more of a recent thing and it is never really a place we feared going to. I would hazzard a guess that recent results will only have a small bearing on the outcome this week. The likely continued absence of Rodri is likely to be a more significant contributory factor if we get beat.

As I’ve said numerous times now. The only way arsenal win this league is if they build an early lead that puts them out of sight. They are far too emotional to handle a tight run home.

Yeah I get it, and agree largely. That doesn't stay forever though and I haven't seen it as much this season with them. Teams do eventually get over the line and it ight be the year they do. I hope it isn't,

This is the way I see it as well. If come April 1st we are a couple points back or a couple points ahead I think we will win it. Arsenal essentially has to run away and hide like Liverpool did last year.

I can see the league being won with 75 - 80 points.

I can't. Both Arsenal and City will easily go above 82 pts if they avoid injury crisis. What's more, it's likely that both teams will win 85+ pts.

Can't say about Liverpool but if they sign good defenders in January, they may compete as well. Right now they have serious defensive problems. They had such problems in 13/14 as well but their Suarez-led attack compensated for it, almost.

Back to normal levels this season.

All the top teams losing 6/7 matches.

Currently it's Arsenal's to lose and they have that mentality to fuck it up towards the end of the season.
IMHO the winner will get around 90 points
