You may well be correct. Quite a few of our games have been a tale of two halves. Resolve that and we could have a very strong season.

I disagree - they’re nine games in haven’t played well in one. They were very lucky to win the first five and form has caught up with them.

To win the league they can at most lose two more games. They still have to go to ourselves, Arsenal, United, Spurs, Everton.

I am not surprised by Chelsea. Their side is too young. A team needs personality.

I am surprised about the form of Liverpool. I had thought that Van Dijk and Salah would struggle and they have but their problems are so much more than that. They were outfought at Brentford. Brentford won most of the 50/50s. They look complacent and like a team that has just won a league title. City under Pep didn't suffer with this, but many league title winners get complacent.
 
I wil be very surprised if Arsenal don’t win it but I think we will be second and 2 players away from winning it next year.

I'm not, although it's still too early to totally count them out of the title race, but it will only come if Arsenal and ourselves slip up (I'm assuming Sunderland & United will fade)

Chelsea are a young team, full of talent and ability but still a work in progress. They have shown in these early period of the season that they are still bot ready to make a consistent challenge. They might be good for a cup win (as they did in the summer) but not yet a consistent season where you win most games and a slip up is a draw. But it might be a good season for them to learn that and get closer to the points needed to challenge.

Liverpool got lucky last year, but this year have the challenge of winning again (always harder) whilst rebuilding and carrying grief. I wouldn't want to make too much of the grief as I think this year was always going to be hard, but it will be a factor. The rapid slump from a good start looks surprising - but they were getting away with the stuff at the beginning of the season and they aren't now - and those are the tight margins.

As for us - we will see. Pep and some of his backroom team have the knowledge and memory of how to win in a tight season. But many of the players and new backroom staff do not - can they all learn from the master and build momentum February to May? - we will see.

It should be Arsenal's year.

Chelsea are all too young at the same time to do anything sustained like a league title push.

Young players are inconsistent, as a rule. Their whole squad is young (of the 32 players in their squad, 25 of them are 25 and under, only 1 player - Sterling - is 28 and over) and only two or three players have ever won a league title anywhere, in their squad.

If they can keep that team together over a long period of time and have them all being 26-31 at the same time, they’ll be a different prospect… but not at the moment.

I think Arsenal should be favourites. They are a mature side with all their players in place and they have strength in depth. City though can improve as the season goes on. Reijnders will get better. We don't know what impact Cherki will make.

Liverpool have defensive problems, plus they weren't fresh last night due to having played United and Frankfurt away in the 6 days prior to the game at Brentford.

They aren't out of it just yet, because they have quality players, may hit form later and win 8-10 games in a row. They will buy 1-2 good defenders in January.

Nobody could predict Liverpool would lose 4 from the first 9 games, and nobody can be sure what will happen in the next 29 games. As things stand, they are outsiders, but so were we a month ago according to pundits and many fans on here. Surprises happen all the time. Pep savaged the pundits the other day for drawing big conclusions on the basis of several games, but fans can be even worse.

The quality of Liverpool's squad was seriously overrated after the summer transfer window and now it may be a bit underrated.

I think the quality of our squad was underrated and still is underrated (especially when compared with Arsenal's). I rate the *potential* of our squad as the best in the league. We have multiple players who can make big steps forward: Khusa, Gvardiol, O'Reilly, Ait-Nouri, Gonzalez, Cherki, Reijnders, Savinho, Doku, Marmoush, etc. Plus Rodri. If half of these players improve, and the real Rodri returns, we'll be quite good.
 
An interesting and encouraging fact from MOTD 25th October.

I think this graphic is supposed to represent the youngest sides in the league.

One big advantage that City have over Chelsea is that we have more leaders like Donnarumma, Dias, Rodri and Haaland. Chelsea have some experienced players but they are not like City.

It’s completely natural for a human to achieve something great and then struggle to find the same motivation to repeat (or better) that feat.

Winning four in a row was undoubtedly the greatest achievement in English football history.

In fairness, I also thought they’d win it. My logic was that they’d won games despite playing badly.

Eventually they will turn it around and play well, but now, after four defeats, they might have left it too late.

Maybe Isak coming in has unsettled the team? Given his attitude at Newcastle I doubt he’s some inspirational team player.
