Or we could just win the rest of our games and hope Chelsea beat Liverpool.

But we'd still need another Liverpool slip up elsewhere.

Don't think so.
It is possible if they get a better goal difference than us, unlikely if we win all ours and they lose one, which they'd have too.

Its not looking likely, I've said on another thread it just looks like the scouse have captured lightning in a bottle this season and I would be amazed to see them blow it now. No sure why people are so adamant Chelsea can win there next week, wouldnt be surprised to see the dippers dick them but I will live in hope just like I did a couple of years ago.

We have made a rod for our own back this season with some poor performances also injuries and unbelievable individual mistakes have kicked us right in the crotch, playing a huge part.

We need to make sure we wrap up second now (anything else will be an unexpected miracle for me) and the caliber of performance we saw against Sunderland just wont cut the mustard, I can handle losing but I cannot stomach us looking like we just dont give a fuck. Injuries and available personnel aside, we more than have the players to take care of West Brom then look forward and hope Yaya, Silva et al are back.

I do back the manager but had to wonder what the fuck after Sunderland...first time I've questioned him all season, just didnt seem to be able to get the team up for it which doesnt sit well with me, especially with a slim shot at the title at stake. I believe his remit next year will be first and foremost to win the league (after I'm assuming 2 years of second place) and further progression in the CL. If we dont, in will come another new face wanting to spend a fortune and we start all over again.

Its time we gripped this fucking league by the throat and kept hold of it, we have too much going for us to keep being the affable runners up, fuck that.

Very good post and very well put- i agree.

I think in a way us fans, the players , manager , the whole set up need to realize that its not arrogance thinking we can win things every year, its reality, the owner has given the funds which in turn has developed a team more than capable.

I agree with you regards us not grasping the moment aswell, we are blowing too many very good opportunities, when we smell blood we should finish it and im sure this is being noticed by our owners.

Our owners want us at the elite level and we've very nearly arrived but we have a couple more steps yet.

Re: Title still possible

United sealed the league on 22nd April last year. If we win tomorrow we'll still be fighting at the end of April so any suggestion we've capitulated are wide of the mark. We've only lost twice in 22 league games.

Fight to the end.

Taking 1 point from 6 against the bottom team leaves us way short of being elite.

Re: Will we win the Prem (continued)?

We may do yet but if we do not the thing that will sit and niggle me will be this.
Not once this season in the league have we been totally outplayed for a full game. Teams have had spells but we have been in with a shout of winning or getting something out of all of them. The one thing that sticks out as having stopped this from happening is our own mistakes. Too many in critical moments that have cost us games. Co-incidence or a direct result of our new expansive and higher risk style? I am starting to think there may be a link. Maybe it can be sorted with new squad members or maybe next season we'll fly out of the traps and run away with the league because everyone knows what they are about.

I grew up watching the back end of the last title winning side in 69...My old man said we should have won more with that side than one title....we didn't. I think we could have had more than one title under our belts already...we don't. Not winning it this year will not make winning it next any easier but I am still enjoying the ride.

Don't think so.
It is possible if they get a better goal difference than us, unlikely if we win all ours and they lose one, which they'd have too.

We are in the best possible position after a pool win today. At 2-0 up inside 10 mins today I feared the worse today much the same as I did against them at Anfield last Sunday (I was In corporate dipper section and yes it was painful as we all know what they are like). Yes it was a balls up dropping points to Sunderland as a 1 point slip is easier to catch but our key arsenal has always been our Goal diference and the closer we get to the wire it obviously means we are closer to losing the opportunity to bridge that 3 point gap.. But the same can be said for the goal diference. Basically it stands like this barring an unprecedented goal scoring frenzy in their two final victories and I'm talking 10+ goals unanswered which I don't think they are capable of as they don't seem to know whether to stick or twist at 2-0! if we win all our remaining we will win the league if Liverpool lose one of their remaining. We play 2 more games than them with 5 remaining whilst they play 3 which if it comes down to goal difference means they will only have 2 positive GD results whilst we will have 5. They also trail us by 2 as it is and also would have a deficit of whatever they lose their loss by to overcome, basically provided they don't beat Newcastle by 11-0 or something ridiculous on the last day of the season. If it goes to the last day of the season like 2012 and ends the same.. Kompany will do the same come 5'oclock.
Believe blues. Believe.
