very slim chance which will be made worse by jose mourinho fielding a weakened side on Sunday. we need to win ALL our games to have any kind of hope.

If they won they would be two points behind, I'm surprised they think they have a better chance of beating Athletico and Real or Bayern in the final, than Liverpool losing at Palace.

If they go through with this I hope they end up with nothing.

They have two teams to overrun to win the league, not just liverpool.

It's exactly what I would done on their place tbh, league is lost for them after sunderland.

We had a chance second to none when we visited arsenal. Between now and then the players and management have pissed it all away. They needed to approach those games with their Dicks swinging so to speak, straining at the leash. Pellers will be given another year to atone. Whether he deserves it or not is another matter entirely.

Arsenal game was the biggest blow. Win there would give us a chance to slip and we'd play without much pressure at Anfield. It was more important game than anfield one for me for that reason.

we need to look at ourselves, you can't lose 3 out of 4 to your biggest rivals and expect to win it, plus we just gifted them the winning goals when a draw was the least we were going to get from each game - our fault

Said it at the time and got slated on here, huge 2 points dropped at an injury hit and out of form/ confidence Arsenal. Win that game and we would of gone on to win it IMO.

Funny how Mourinho is getting slaughtered on here. Any spitting venom people have regarding this season should be deposited on a manager and playing staff much closer to home.

Arsenal was the turning point for me as well. Many blues were saying it was a great point. I was gutted after the game. First half, their was only one team in it and should have gone for there throats in the 2nd half but we seemed to switch off for some reason and let them back in it. We had room for error if we had won that game. We could have gone to Anfield in a more relaxed state.

If Mourinho does this, and loses, we should abandon all hope of rescuing the league title. That being the case, the best thing we could do to show our utter distain for the bent refereeing and overt tilting of the playing field in Liverpool's favour, would be to follow Chelsea's lead:

Play the weakest team possible at Palace and deliberately lose 20-0. Players standing around, hands in pockets, smoking and drinking lager.

I am not seriously suggesting this of course, but I am so utterly fucked off with how bent this whole thing has become, i'd dearly love to do it.

Jose Mourinho has been given the go-ahead by Chelsea’s board to pick a second-string team at Liverpool on Sunday, after accepting that the club’s title hopes are over.

Mourinho is preparing to carry out his threat to save his remaining fit, first-choice players for the Champions League semi-final second leg at home to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

The Chelsea manager believes that their Barclays Premier League title chances are over after the 2-1 home defeat by Sunderland on Saturday left his side five points behind leaders Liverpool.

And Chelsea’s football board, Dave Barnard, Bruce Buck, Ron Gourlay, Marina Granovskaia and Eugene Tenenbaum, all support Mourinho’s decision after meeting on Wednesday to discuss the situation.

Mourinho lost goalkeeper Petr Cech and skipper John Terry to injuries in Tuesday’s first-leg draw at Atletico. It means third-choice keeper Henrique Hilario could start his first Chelsea game in three years to protect 41-year-old keeper Mark Schwarzer.

There may also be chances for youngsters such as Tomas Kalas, Nathan Ake and Under 21 defender Andreas Christensen.

Will this tarnish Liverpool's title win? Most likely it will be glossed over since it's Liverpool.
Lots of quotes in there to give it extra credibility.

It's by Neil Ashton though isn't it? He is close to Chelsea.

If they play the kids that will be ridiculous, but I don't think for one minute that he is going to

For a start he has Matic and Salah who are Cup-Tied and then the two suspended players in Lampard and Mikel. Hazard is coming back I think so Schurrle will possibly be available. Probably Oscar too and Ba. Ashley Cole will probably play too.

It's a non-story.

Clearly Liverpool have been extremely fortunate to play Chelsea in the middle of a Champions League semi-final. An extraordinary piece of luck.

But I think even a weakened Chelsea can beat or at least draw with Liverpool. Their results are fantastic, but their performances of late have been poor. West Ham, City, Norwich should all have at the minimum taken a point but they won all 3 with key elements of fortune in each game.

The luck will run out. What happened to the law of averages?

Or we could recall Scott Sinclair from his loan at West Brom and play him in that game. It'll send out the same message.

-- 23 Apr 2014, 22:27 --

His closeness to Chelsea could easily make him a complicit Trojan Horse.
