I don't want to moan or make excuses, but really, could Liverpool have had it easier? We and Arsenal have been decimated by injuries this season, Even Chelsea have had a few. Liverpool have had virtually nothing, apart from Gerrard for a few weeks. Sergio's swaggering goal last Monday evening showed exactly what we've been missing up front in his absence.
Liverpool get awarded every penalty going, including a few that looked very dubious to me, we have a nailed-on penalty off Skrtel's arm not awarded which everybody appears to have seen except the ref. Finally, what should have been a crunch match which might well have turned the whole thing around is turning into a capitulation by Mourinho, who apparently has bigger fish to fry (he'll look pretty stupid if they don't win the CL, and I don't think they will). Yes, we've made it difficult for ourselves with that Sunderland debacle and Vinny's moment of madness at Anfield, but I'm certain we would have been cruising this by this stage without this injury record. Anyway, if May 2012 taught us anything, it's not over till it's mathematically over. We'll see one way or the other this weekend, I think.

I'm going to do my bit by backing Liverpool to win their remaining games.
7/2 to beat Chelsea for new customers with Corals, £10 bet Max.

By rights it should be a complete bore fest at Anfield tomorrow. Liverpool don't need to win, and absolutely must not lose. Chelsea probably think they can't win the league now, have key players missing and have the Athletico game next week. But they won't want to lose tomorrow for the sake of their egos and confidence levels prior to the CL game.

So both teams would probably be quite pleased with a 0-0 draw.

That said, football often doesn't pan out how you might expect, so let's see. Personally i think Chelsea are a better team than Liverpool, who have tremendous attacking options and not much else. Chelsea are a better balanced team (injuries aside). They are certainly capable of beating Liverpool and if anyone can conjure up an unexpected victory against adversity, it's Maureen. Lets's pray they can do it.

I guess a question that has to be asked is, who would Mourinho rather won the league, us or Liverpool? Their game tomorrow could very easily be the title decider. Liverpool win and it's done and dusted imho. Chelsea win and although we still have huge hurdles, i would expect us to seize the opportunity as we did in 2012 and win our remaining games and be crowned champions on goal difference. I really do think the Chelsea-Liverpool game tomorrow is that important.

My guess is Maureen would rather Liverpool won it than us. He probably thinks (rightly ) that we are his biggest competitor for the foreseeable and them helping us to win it this season is an interesting concept. I hope he's just thinking about winning the game and not the bigger picture.

Only 8 points from the games against 3 of the bottom 4 (Norwich, Cardiff and Sunderland). Those 10 points dropped is the reason why we're not at the top of the table. Sure we've had injuries but our squad should be able to do better than it has against those at the bottom. We've had bad luck and mistakes as well, but all teams get their share of those (agent Kolo's give away for instance).

Not sure about the thinking here. There is real hatred between Chelsea and Liverpool, and it goes back to Mourinho's first spell with the club. Just look at the way Benitez was 'welcomed' at Stamford Bridge last season. One of the striking things about going on other clubs' forums is that, yes, there is resentment against us for the money issue, but nobody really hates us. It's astonishing to see the rags almost unanimously siding with us to win this thing. Even if Mourinho thinks that we're his heavyweight competitors for the foreseeable future (plausible), I very much doubt that he'd communicate that to the players in any way. I think he's a gobshite, personally, but he hates losing, any match, he's very professional. And I don't think the players'll reason that way independently as far as tomorrow's match is concerned. Of course, if Mourinho sends out a seriously weakened side, then that sends out a message to everyone that they don't think they've got a cat in hell's chance of winning this title. But if we, and then Liverpool, were to lose to Palace — possible — and Chelsea knocked out by Atletico — definitely possible — then Mourinho'd really have egg on his face.

Is Maureen going to want his prodigy beating him??

There is an outside chance of Chelsea winning the title and whilst there is a hope, I'd expect Mourinho to go for it. Anything can happen in the PL it seems, which might be 14 straight wins for Liverpool or only 3 points from their next three games.

If Chelsea win, then Liverpool would, barring some massive GD games, only need 4 points from Palace away and Newcastle at home in order to pip them for the title with 84 points. Chelsea have a seemingly couple of gimmes for the last two games and 84 is the maximum they could get. Our maximum is 86 (with, in all likelihood, the best GD), but we're still 'Typical City' so I think the race is still on for all three teams - until tomorrow teatime anyway.

Pool had many injuries too, not as much as us, but they still had many.
Jose Enrique out for season, Martin Kelly out for season, these are long 6-8 months injuries. Agger is very injury prone, he was like that in the last 5 years, this season too. Sakho also was injured a few times.
Lucas became injury prone too.

What was big difference that their key players were not really injured at once. Ours was injured a lot at the same time. Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge, Skrtel, I would say they are the best performers for them this season and also Sterling, and these players could play a lot of league games together so they had this kind of spine.

For us Kompany, Yaya, Silva, Agüero, Fernandinho, Zabaleta didnt spend much time together for us in the PL this season.

Of course we cant really complain as when we had Agüero out we could count on Negredo, Dzeko, Jovetic.

If Suraez is out for them for 3 months they have to play Alberto and Aspas and they dont come close to our options, our squad is lot stronger.
But Suarez was lucky because he only had that 6 match ban at the start of the season and did not get injured once and probably started all league games since than.

But we had this kind of luck in 2011-2012, when Kompany, Lescott, Barry, Yaya all was able to start 30+ games out of 38. Also Agüero played in like 35 games that season only in PL. Thats 90% of the games.
Silva started 33 league games in 11-12, and came on from bench 3 times. He only didnt play in 2 games out of 38.
Makes big difference of course. We were lucky that year with injuries. Like Pool this time.
(While at the biggest rival United Vidic played only 6 games that season!)

Also Pool had better chance to deal with injuries as they were not in Europe, no extra games, no extra long travels before weekend games around Europe, thats helps a lot. This meant they are less tired, less chance to get injured.

I dont like injuries as an excuse. We were the better team getting the most points in 11-12 than United and they had worse injury record. Even with that it was very close finish. When my rag friends told me if they had less injury we wouldnt have won it. I laughed in their face like many other City fans probably to similar statements.
Not very different this time just now Pool is on the good side of the dick...
