Pool had many injuries too, not as much as us, but they still had many.
Jose Enrique out for season, Martin Kelly out for season, these are long 6-8 months injuries. Agger is very injury prone, he was like that in the last 5 years, this season too. Sakho also was injured a few times.
Lucas became injury prone too.
What was big difference that their key players were not really injured at once. Ours was injured a lot at the same time. Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge, Skrtel, I would say they are the best performers for them this season and also Sterling, and these players could play a lot of league games together so they had this kind of spine.
For us Kompany, Yaya, Silva, Agüero, Fernandinho, Zabaleta didnt spend much time together for us in the PL this season.
Of course we cant really complain as when we had Agüero out we could count on Negredo, Dzeko, Jovetic.
If Suraez is out for them for 3 months they have to play Alberto and Aspas and they dont come close to our options, our squad is lot stronger.
But Suarez was lucky because he only had that 6 match ban at the start of the season and did not get injured once and probably started all league games since than.
But we had this kind of luck in 2011-2012, when Kompany, Lescott, Barry, Yaya all was able to start 30+ games out of 38. Also Agüero played in like 35 games that season only in PL. Thats 90% of the games.
Silva started 33 league games in 11-12, and came on from bench 3 times. He only didnt play in 2 games out of 38.
Makes big difference of course. We were lucky that year with injuries. Like Pool this time.
(While at the biggest rival United Vidic played only 6 games that season!)
Also Pool had better chance to deal with injuries as they were not in Europe, no extra games, no extra long travels before weekend games around Europe, thats helps a lot. This meant they are less tired, less chance to get injured.
I dont like injuries as an excuse. We were the better team getting the most points in 11-12 than United and they had worse injury record. Even with that it was very close finish. When my rag friends told me if they had less injury we wouldnt have won it. I laughed in their face like many other City fans probably to similar statements.
Not very different this time just now Pool is on the good side of the dick...
