City are foolish to do this but what choice did they have?

The other 5 will have given them the nod and told them that if you don't come now, you never can.

We could have taken a stand, yes, but what if it all goes through? The business plan is gone, our hopes of sitting at the top table are gone, and what will really be left of the Premier League in terms of cash income etc.?

Now the big problem I see with joining it for us is that we are going to be worse off than the majority of the other clubs purely because we do not have the reach worldwide that they do. Imagine the deals Utd and Liverpool can get to broadcast their games.

I reckon the decision hurts us either way if the Super League goes ahead but if it does, as a business, we're better off in than out.

The hope has to be that this falls flat on its face.

As it stands it sounds

the teams involved will presume that their bluff can’t be called in terms of being kicked out of domestic leagues, player international bans, etc. I’m not so sure. We would be mad to sign up for this and I hope we don’t.

I disagree. Love him or hate him, you could see the anger and the passion as Neville spoke. It really would not have made a difference if united were top. He just said what 99% of football fans are feeling tonight, the fact his own club are involved just made it easier for him to be heard. And, in all honesty, the way I feel right now, I'd quite happily take City being deducted points, and losing the title, if it meant an end to this selfish, greedy, despicable project.
I also agree with giving Bulham the league if the top 6 are all involved. Failing that give it to Furnley.

On a serious note - fans will feel slighted at perceived digs over history etc but he was bang in with everything.

I understand that. But, the idea of the breakaway league is simply to quit the chumps league and join a new European competition. Why should that effect our position in the English League?
The Champions League should be what it says on the tin. A European competition for winners of their respective League. But suspect there's not enough money in that I guess.
Used to love that competition when the likes of forest won it but now if you finish 4th in your league you can get lucky and win it . How many times in the last 15 years have actual league champions won the champions league ?

Fans of all Clubs are on the same page about these proposals it seems.

I think these 6 Clubs, including ours, have seriously misread their fan base.Or simply didn't give a shit about fans opinions to start with.

playing each other every few weeks.

Then will come the Americanization for US audiences, the game becoming 4 quarters to fit in shit loads of Add Breaks for our American owners sponsors.

It is bad enough on Sky /BT.

You can almost guarantee not only will we get the game consisting of 4 Quarters,we will get rolling adds across the screen from the main sponsors every few minutes. at every break in play.

Just like US TV.

But they wouldn't give a toss if 5000 or 50000 fans turned up for a match, they don't need the gate receipts, it's all about the TV deals and sponsorship
but if fans (or even people who don't care about football-but don't like this) turn on sponsors, I can see it deflating the amount of money other companies would be willing to throw at this league.
