Willy has to play in the Final

Depends if he has a blinder or not. He's capable of a top performance but I'm not filled with confidence after seeing his slapstick act against Chelsea.
He shouldn't start, but seeing as it looks like he is we've got to accept it and see how it pans out.
The worry is what a defeat, with a caballero error thrown in, would do for the rest of the season. It could get toxic pretty quick.

Is he ?

The way I look at it is we have tossed off some titles and cups when the opposition have been shite !! Letting Fergiscum win his last league, Wigan, Moureen winning the league last year !! We need to win and if that means upsetting a mediocre second string keeper then so be it. Pots in the cabinet are what clubs are judged on and I for one could not stomach the media wankfest if we get beaten by the dippers, Its a final at wembley FFS no time for sentiment especially to someone who will not be hear next year !! Plus he will still get a medal !! If we are to try and go on and win the league and progress further in the Champions league we need to go on an un beaten run a defeat in the final would be a massive dent and one with could sap moral too much !

Is there any other club that would not play their strongest team in a cup final? Would Barca, Real Madrid, the Arse, Chelsea, the Rags, will the Scouser's, who must be laughing their socks off?
I could understand it if Willie was on a par with Joe or at least half decent but crikey guys you have seem him play and yet you still think he should make our cup final team for what can only be described as sentimental reasons.
Do you not remember his last Wembley appearance? It was pretty similar to his Chelsea performance. The guy is a liability and I am sure most of you know that.
I will be at Wembley and will be cheering on whatever team is put out but I feel I will have wasted my money if this clown is in goals. Still hoping someone makes Pelli see sense but not holding my breath.
Barcelona play there reserve keeper Ter Stegen in every Cup game - including Finals.

THANK YOU! ;)

I think you're both getting a bit confused as to why little Willy has been playing in the cup games. It's not because he's our "club keeper" he's a keeper who plays in the cups, and therefore is guaranteed to start in all of the cup games. Such a thing doesn't exist, it's been invented by the overly sentimental on here.

There reason he has been playing in the cups is to keep him fit and sharp in case Hart gets ruled out and the team needs him. The best way to do that is to play him in competitive games. The lowest risk competitive game for him to play in are the cup games.

The reason we wan't to keep him match sharp is because that's what is best for City. If Hart gets ruled out it's better to have a keeper who has played recently, who's match fit and sharp. That will give us the best chance of winning trophies.

The purpose of the team and the squad is to win as many games as possible, and ultimately win trophies. We've got a golden chance to do just that on Sunday. We should play the best team, that makes the most sense.

People saying Willy should play because he's "the cup keeper" have either got a bit carried away with what a "cup keeper" is, or they are being overly sentimental about hurting little Willy's feelings. He's a big boy, he knows he's not as good as Joe Hart, he'll get over it.

Hart has to start.

Yeah, he's capable.
We're gonna find out one way or another soon enough.

He may be capable but Ive not seen it. I might be capable of running a 4 minute mile, eventually, but Id rather bet on someone who's already done it.

Once again bollocks. The cup keeper is THE cup keeper how can people get carried away? He has played in every round of the FA cup, and the league cup ties vs Everton away and at home. You and many others will be licking his arse if he does well Sunday and I really hope he does. Yes I would rather play hart but do we really have to go on about and be shocked/annoyed when the team is released an hour before KO? No because he's the cup keeper he's going to play he deserves it after his performances during the league cup campaign.

I didnt say he was, I was pointing out that big teams do use there reserves keepers in the cup.
But they do so in the safe knowledge that which ever goalkeeper they chose would be of a similar ability.
We don't have that luxury.
