Wimbledon 2023 | Alcaraz beats Djokovic in the final

Federer the best on grass.
Nadal the best on clay.
Djokovic best on the hard courts.
Djokovic probably the best across all surfaces

Incredible.

I grew up watching Borg, Connors, McEnroe etc, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

However, the era of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic (even though I don’t like him) is every bit as good, if not better.

Back in the 70s, tennis only lasted two weeks and then everybody forgot it until the next year. Now we can watch all the majors and the Masters tournament and watching these guys compete against each other is one of the sporting highlights of the last 20 years.

And with players like Alcaraz, Sinner and Rune, we are set for at least another decade of fabulous tennis.

Now, cricket on the other hand - watched it avidly until about 2005 and haven’t bothered since.
Some good points mate but if you enjoyed the cricket in 2005 it’s worth giving this current series a watch!

I have been a fan of Nadal since he turned 18. His fighting spirit is unmatched, and we will never know what could have been if it wasn't for all his injuries. Having said that, Novak virtually owns every record now, grand slam record, masters 1000, weeks at number 1, H2H against Rafa and Federer, and impressively won all 3 matches against Federer in the Wimbledon finals. It's been between Rafa and Novak for a while now, and up until recently, Rafa had a slight edge and still has a few records over Djokovic (H2H at Grand Slams, Olympics success, Davis Cup), but let's be real, Djokovic is the best there has ever been, no doubt about it. Credit where it's due. I will always love Nadal, though.
Spare a thought for Andy Murray as if it wasn’t for them three he would have won loads . Came along at the wrong time .

Yeah, think he’d have won a few more anyway when his hip gave in. Was world number 1 at the time had started to beat and really match Djokovic. He was in the semi’s of the French and looking well on to make the final when it first started to go on him. Was looking brilliant on grass and probably favourite to retain his Wimbledon title when his hip went completely.

Yeah, I have seen the scores and bits on the news - shaping up to be a good series.

When i was a kid, I used to regularly go to the Old Trafford test in the late 70s/80s, watched all the tests on TV and even followed the county games when I ran a fantasy cricket league for years.

When the internationals moved to Sky after 2005, I just couldn't be bothered with it anymore and lost touch.
