Win the title this season and we end United's era

Last season we thrust a dagger into the evil beasts heart, now to cut off it's head!
Kun & RVP partnership would've been a sight to savor, but full confidence in Kun/Tevez against RVP/Rooney.....In fact gonna have a crafty bet on Tevez for top scorer!

Tevez and Aguero will be the pair to watch this season.. mark my words.

Agreed, A fit and happy Tevez with something to prove is a far better prospect than RVP, and as far as Rooney V Kun don't make me laugh! We'll have won most of our games by the time Edin/Mario need to come on to save legs, and if either of the Argie boys lose form or injured either a fit and chomping at the bit Edin or Mario will more than do! What strength in depth do the rags have? wellbeck and the pea? LOL Thats just the front 4, not even mentioned Yaya, Silva, Nasri, Barry, Milner, De jong, Johnson and I've probably missed a few, In front of the meanest back 4 in the prem, with an abundance of International youth players coming through! We had a very bad patch when we lost Yaya and Vinny in Jan, we will have learnt from that!

Dont want to take this thread off course but is that just bluster or do you genuinely believe that? Tevez is a very good player but ive never been 100% sold hes up there with the very elite, Aguero i was sold on after minute 1, that guy just oozes class you can see it a mile off hes the best striker in the league no questions asked but i dont think Tevez is in that league, hes never reached anything like the goal tallys Van Persie or Rooney for that matter touched upon last season in a far weaker team to i might add.

Hand on heart here if given the chance right now to swap are you saying you wouldnt? i may be a new member on here but ive read this forum for a long time and can remember seeing many who were dying for us to sign Van Persie, i think he and Aguero would have been the best strike duo in world football and something quite ridiculous, imo Van Persie is not just a better footballer but a better goalscorer than Tevez, has Tevez ever got close to 40 goals in a season?? certainly not since he came to England.

Just my view of course but id swap Tevez for Van Persie in a heartbeat.

Not just bluster mate, I was a massive Tevez hater for how he was treating the club I love, and actually said "I'd rather not win the title than have him play in our shirt again" I was wrong, Tevez, not a very intelligent, but very manipulated outstanding footballer was the difference to our season last year, we had run out of steam and needed something special, I'm not 1 of those guys that say we'd've won it at a canter had he played all year, because I don't think it would've worked out like that! We had a great start without him, but he wasn't interested then, he is now! Tevez is hit and miss in front of goal agreed, but he does damage in other ways, no better partner for Sergio!

Fair enough mate, i dont think ill ever forgive the cnut for how he treated my club and maybe one of the reasons ive never truly taken to him is down to his history with them and the fact i sang herman munster at him quite happily and felt like a bit of a dick when i then started cheering him a few months later, football eh its mad :)

All the talk of RVP, TEVEZ, SERGIO etc, but me thinks we are overlooking the possible contribution to the goals from Mario. With any luck, his significant contribution to the Euros and the fact that the Italian manager has now publicly stated that Mario is at the 1st name on his team sheet now, will mean that he might actually take the game a little more seriously than worrying about being the last onto the pitch for the warm up and the million and one other distractions he always insisted on putting in his way.
Yes, he is still young, but if he clicks this season, along with Tevez and Sergio + a solid, well rounded and solid squad behind them, we could leave everyone trailing again by 15+ points.
RPV is not the rags saviour. I doubt he will be the difference in getting results in the similar games to those that let them down last season. He might have scored a shit load for Arsenal, mainly because there was no one else in sight of goal. He was there 'GIVE IT TO GORDON' target man and it was a numbers game.
Utd will have serious problems with their midfield and defence this season. Vidic thinks he is the saviour, but he is going to have to play for two this season coz Ferdinand has lost a yard now and is clearly not worthy anymore.
If I can find a bookie who will take a bet for us to beat the rags by 9 points or more, I will be happy to thow a decent wedge at it.

So many great posts on this thread. Fucking ace, Bluemooners.

I think one of the comments already stated that I agree with most strongly is that them lot are now reacting to us, and making decisions based on us. So are other sides. Gotta say it feels fantastic.

I think so often of that last month of last season. Feeling destroyed after that debacle at Emirates and thinking we had let it all slip away. Flash forward to the DERBY and there Sir Alex is - that arrogant, holier-than-thou, ego-maniacal man standing toe to toe with Mancini as he melted down on the touchline. In all my days as a Blue, I had NEVER thought I would see such a thing. Fergiescum on a wobbler caused by us and our manager???

It wasn't just the moment for me, with him lunging at Bobby eyes ablaze. It was Mancini, our manager, refusing to back down to him and giving him some shit right back. It was also the thought that I had at that moment about all Mancini's interviews for weeks and how he had so skillfully steered everyone's thoughts toward them and away from us. Mind games. Mind games that my side won in this instance. As the row cooled down and Bobby fluttered his hand yet again saying "talk", Sir Cumface stood there furiously chomping on his gum, still seething. It was 1-0 on the scoreboard. Vinnie (of all players!!!) with the goal. City seemingly back in control of the title. United with no key to unlock our defence. Eastlands in rapture.

Sir Alex in tatters.

Then in those glorious, shimmering, ecstatic, tear inducing moments after Kun ripped it into the net past Kenny to beat QPR, I saw the look on Sir Alex's face as the news hit them that we had torn #20 form their hands as they prepared to hold it aloft. We have all laughed, and rightly so, for the entire summer about how a shirtless Phil Jones looked so funny as the news rippled through the ground that we had scored, but I still contend that the most amazing thing to watch in that moment was Sir Alex in front of him. First, he was clapping and looking around kind of excitedly. Then, it all came crashing down and he looked completely confused as to what to do next. He had been dropped awkwardly into very unfamiliar territory.

Blue Moon Risen, my friends. Long may it soar.

Now, as so many of you have stated, we Blues stand together waiting to see what this season brings. I'm not foolish enough to believe that United are finished, but I am not foolish, period, either. IF we can win the Prem this season, it will potentially signal a real shift in power. IF we win it, it won't matter how much cash they splased on RVP and others. IF we win it again this year, it doesn't matter to me whether Fergie retires or not.

What will matter to me with regard to Sir Alex and United is that, after all these years of abuse and disrespect at the hands of them and their supporters as they dominated us, their esteemed manager will have to face the prospect of leaving the game behind with the sun already set on him. As so many of you have said, it is not in his DNA to accept failure of any kind. Nonetheless, that will be what he has to accept. What they have to accept. What their fans have to accept. Best of all, it will happen to them at the hand of their small time, crosstown rivals. At the hand of a side that they have given NO RESPECT to for years. Now, I am aware that we went for so long in the mire as they piled up wins and trophies and fans, but I could give a shit now that the tide is turning. Every dog has his day, and I truly believe ours is just beginning.

Think back to Shrek's Shinner two seasons ago. Think about how many times you had to watch it again and again and again. Fuck's sake, I'm a Yank and they played that shit EVERY FUCKING DAY for months on ESPN here. Think about this - that may be their last real moment in the sun with us for a time. Or maybe you would say them winning the Community Shield against us last year was. Regardless, I am in total agreement with so many of you here that the opportunity is before us to shake them to their very core and bring down the curtain on their era of dominance. We all thought it had to happen at some point, didn't we? We all hoped and prayed for it. We all wanted it. I, for one, never dreamed that it could happen under a Bluemoon.

Is it Sunday yet? Bring on Southampton. Let's get this thing started.

CTID

For as long as Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick patrol their midfield they will always be a lesser team than us.

I wonder what Ferguson thought about on his way to work on September 1st 2008. Doubtless Dimatar Berbatov would have occupied his mind. We'll tie that up later today he would have said to himself, we are, after all Champions League holders. We always get our man.

One thing I am certain he wouldn't have thought about was little old City. He'd probably heard whispers about the club going into administration and had a little chuckle to himself, but nothing more than that.

And here we are less than four years later and the club down the road, so long a source of mirth to him - a small club with a small mentality - has it within its grasp to tarnish his legacy.

Ferguson has staked everything on this transfer reclaiming the title for his club and for him to be able to walk away with his head held high. It is simply not in his DNA to walk away a beaten man. The manner of last seasons denouement will have ensured that he is possessed by this. The fact it is City will ensure that he is consumed by it.

There is little in life that is more satisfying than seeing someone you dislike fail to get their heart's desire. Let's do everything we can, as supporters, to achieve that aim.

Bring it on.

Wishful thinking to say they are skint. The Yankee glass fitters seem to be able to find cash when absolutely necessary by easing off the bleed valve. It is in their financial interest to keep the rags at the top. Our title triumph and the sick swan forced their hands this transfer window. They had to dig deep and flout their own declared recruitment policy. "We invest in youth. Others spend silly money on established stars". Who said that?

A repeat in 2012/13 - as said earlier in the thread - could be the battle that turns the war. But the war isn't likely to end any time soon. That's why it's great to see MCFC building for the future, not living for the moment. Rag fans can splutter all they like about "financial doping" but the previously-smug bastards can sense the shift of power and are starting to cack themselves.

This season could be just as important as the last one for both clubs. Arguably even more for the rags as they are the ones fighting the rearguard action. They've come back before but this will be their biggest ever domestic challenge. Sir bacon is shaken. Bring it on.
