Win the title this season and we end United's era

Someone pointed out earlier, their squad is aging and most are their star performers over the last few years. All these are 30+ (35+) next year.

Scholes, Giggs, Carrick, Vidic, Evra, Van Persie!, Ferdinand, Berbaflop

Who knows how Vidic and Fletcher will come back (if Fletcher comes back at all). Wellbeck is going to be pissed for his contract talks as they will definitely try to screw him over now. They don't have a backup LB (or RB really although Phil Jones has played there). They've run out of players to sell for big bucks, only Rooney. Maybe Nani would fetch a decent price. Of course the usual sycophants will pay decent money for their crap which still pisses me off.

Their youngsters aren't what I would call rags usual "quality" although some of them have some promise.

I'd still put our first 11 against theirs and only maybe take Rooney & Vidic (performances only rated) over our squad. Maybe Nani if we used wingers, which we don't.

RvP looks like desperation, Kagawa could be a good move (still to be seen).

They are still going to be in the mix at the end of the season, that squad will still roll over most squads in the PL which is all they need.

So many great posts on this thread. Fucking ace, Bluemooners.

I think one of the comments already stated that I agree with most strongly is that them lot are now reacting to us, and making decisions based on us. So are other sides. Gotta say it feels fantastic.

I think so often of that last month of last season. Feeling destroyed after that debacle at Emirates and thinking we had let it all slip away. Flash forward to the DERBY and there Sir Alex is - that arrogant, holier-than-thou, ego-maniacal man standing toe to toe with Mancini as he melted down on the touchline. In all my days as a Blue, I had NEVER thought I would see such a thing. Fergiescum on a wobbler caused by us and our manager???

It wasn't just the moment for me, with him lunging at Bobby eyes ablaze. It was Mancini, our manager, refusing to back down to him and giving him some shit right back. It was also the thought that I had at that moment about all Mancini's interviews for weeks and how he had so skillfully steered everyone's thoughts toward them and away from us. Mind games. Mind games that my side won in this instance. As the row cooled down and Bobby fluttered his hand yet again saying "talk", Sir Cumface stood there furiously chomping on his gum, still seething. It was 1-0 on the scoreboard. Vinnie (of all players!!!) with the goal. City seemingly back in control of the title. United with no key to unlock our defence. Eastlands in rapture.

Sir Alex in tatters.

Then in those glorious, shimmering, ecstatic, tear inducing moments after Kun ripped it into the net past Kenny to beat QPR, I saw the look on Sir Alex's face as the news hit them that we had torn #20 form their hands as they prepared to hold it aloft. We have all laughed, and rightly so, for the entire summer about how a shirtless Phil Jones looked so funny as the news rippled through the ground that we had scored, but I still contend that the most amazing thing to watch in that moment was Sir Alex in front of him. First, he was clapping and looking around kind of excitedly. Then, it all came crashing down and he looked completely confused as to what to do next. He had been dropped awkwardly into very unfamiliar territory.

Blue Moon Risen, my friends. Long may it soar.

Now, as so many of you have stated, we Blues stand together waiting to see what this season brings. I'm not foolish enough to believe that United are finished, but I am not foolish, period, either. IF we can win the Prem this season, it will potentially signal a real shift in power. IF we win it, it won't matter how much cash they splased on RVP and others. IF we win it again this year, it doesn't matter to me whether Fergie retires or not.

What will matter to me with regard to Sir Alex and United is that, after all these years of abuse and disrespect at the hands of them and their supporters as they dominated us, their esteemed manager will have to face the prospect of leaving the game behind with the sun already set on him. As so many of you have said, it is not in his DNA to accept failure of any kind. Nonetheless, that will be what he has to accept. What they have to accept. What their fans have to accept. Best of all, it will happen to them at the hand of their small time, crosstown rivals. At the hand of a side that they have given NO RESPECT to for years. Now, I am aware that we went for so long in the mire as they piled up wins and trophies and fans, but I could give a shit now that the tide is turning. Every dog has his day, and I truly believe ours is just beginning.

Think back to Shrek's Shinner two seasons ago. Think about how many times you had to watch it again and again and again. Fuck's sake, I'm a Yank and they played that shit EVERY FUCKING DAY for months on ESPN here. Think about this - that may be their last real moment in the sun with us for a time. Or maybe you would say them winning the Community Shield against us last year was. Regardless, I am in total agreement with so many of you here that the opportunity is before us to shake them to their very core and bring down the curtain on their era of dominance. We all thought it had to happen at some point, didn't we? We all hoped and prayed for it. We all wanted it. I, for one, never dreamed that it could happen under a Bluemoon.

Is it Sunday yet? Bring on Southampton. Let's get this thing started.

News of the Rags demise are premature.

Just look at their success over the last 5/6 seasons. Ferguson, as much as I hate the fucker, will never, ever lie down and he will eke every little bit out of the players he has. I'd say they are stronger now than they were last season. Their ageing players will be right up for this, especially given the way they lost it last season. They are wounded, and are more dangerous than they were last season. They were arrogant last season, and really believed we had blown it at the Arsenal game - but we came back and bit them on the arse. Their pain is palpable, and I for one don't think for one second that they won't react in the way that Ferguson will demand.

Spot on.

Clearly RVP improves them (or why would we have wanted him). Its a short term fix to try & get back the Title. My main concern is that we still have the same frailty from last season and its
not been fixed ,namely when teams park the bus we have no width to take them with unless we leave gaps at the back. If Plan A (Aguero & Tevez supported by Silva and Nasri )cannot unpick a defence centrally what's Plan B?

Wasn't it just.

I could almost hear 'Pomp and Circumstance' playing in my head when I read it.
