Windows 10

I know it's hip to go with the latest but stick to 7 if you have programs and games you use a lot.

At the risk of sounding patronising, is there definitely stuff on your desktop? I've just tried it, and it definitely reflects files and folders on my desktop for me.

Admittedly I'm not that savvy where computers are concerned so perhaps I'm missing something simple. However, when I copy & past/save something to that empty desktop folder it does then show up on my desktop along with everything already there.

How long will they continue to support 7? I used XP until the bitter end then went to 8 which is bloody awful.
I have the chance to load a dodgy copy of 7 onto my laptop but could take the jump to 10.

I can see that you only have shortcuts on your desktop. It may be that it doesn't display shortcut files in the folder. Try creating a new folder or file on the desktop, see what happens in the folder.

All the games and programs I used on 7 are working perfectly, not found anything that's given me grief other than the OS itself, and I sorted those out pretty sharpish. It's a very very good OS, Microsoft have redeemed themselves after the monstrosity that was Windows 8.

However, as with all new OSs, I'd advise anyone to wait for a month or so until they release the first few patches and bug fixes. Can't say I've spotted much though to be honest.

Having a quick look on Google this may help (emphasis on may :0 )

PRESS Ctrl + Alt + DEL together.

On process tab close explorer.exe if it's open.

On the applications tab click start new task.

Finally in the box type ''explorer.exe''

Reboot.

It seems to be a corrupt reg entry problem.
