Ok so lets just drop him from the squad altogether, the split would still be there and we lose the best CH we have,
Imo he's too instrumental to Englands chances in the summer and all this bollox has gone way to far.
All this will be forgotten if and when he has a good WC.

This is the compromise. Don't forget that captain also has to do a lot of sponsorship stuff and the like of, and the FA probably had a big impact on this decision.

i agree. i reckon the captain should ideally be a centreback or maybe a central midfield so for me it was ideally rio or terry, or maybe frank, barry, gerrard. rio's past doesn't bother me, he's served penance on that. but it would be nice if a player behaves honourably whilst captain as its kind of a badge of honour too. terry will be gutted he's doesn't get to be in the eternal photo of england captain hoisting the world cup aloft.

it was a fairly obvious choice to be honest. rio was vice captain after all.
