Vertonghen looks like another version of Vermallen. A fantastically skilled player, who plays CD.
Fits the Mancini bill. Tall and physical + versatile. He started as a defensive midfielder...now he is a central defender who can play in the central midfield and LB too.

Vertonghen is basically a weaker and softer version of Vermaelen. But he does have even sweeter left foot and is better passer. If he had the aggression and toughness to match his ability he would be world class by now. Much better footballer than a pure defender
