Wolves (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Controlled the game very well. A good performance but still a few levels below where we can be,,,,,

The pace at which we move the ball both in the decision to make the pass and the actual speed of the pass seems to have slowed.....hints that it was getting back today but not at previous levels.

Haaland will never score an easier hat trick but he is doing his job and thats all you can ask

Rodri and Lewis very good along with Stones.
Alvarez good when he came on
Thought it was Greaish's best game in a city shirt - probably MOTM in my opinion

Second half we dropped off again however after the 3rd goal - now of course that is normal but will Pep see it that way? He could argue that you never let your standards drop right until the final whistle or the very good teams will punish you (like we have done to others)

Bigger tests of our actual attitude lie ahead.

So much better. Tempo and intent. crowd great too. Pep must be happy.
Grealish starting to be the player we thought we were getting.
I watched the game on Sky Germany, as usual. It is pretty obvious that the stadium audio level is toned down. It is for example almost impossible to hear the stadium announcements which illustrates that TV is not representing the real noise level in their broadcast. Contrast that with the Liverpool game yesterday, where you can hear every ohhh loud and clear. Or now with the Arsenal game. It sounds like they are playing a band with artificial crowd noise. It feels like ... manipulation, trying to make our games sound worse than they are. I wonder if City could have a word with the broadcaster.

People who go on about 'tap in merchants' make me laugh.

You have to have the football brain/pace/judgement to be in the place to tap it in. This is not a common skill. If it was you could just sign someone from Prestwich Heys or Prescot Cables for £1000. It is much harder than it looks, to know how to be in the right place at the right time.

A decent, professional display. We seemed a bit more up for it, but never raised ourselves beyond what was needed.

A brilliant hat trick from Haaland, with a steady return from KDB & a good assist. Lewis is obviously being targeted, & it seems teams believe if they hit us hard, we have a soft underbelly & no silent assassin like Fernandinho to fight back.

Good to see Philips get a few more minutes & Cole looking like he had a bit of life in him, as opposed to looking like a training cone as he's done recently.

It's interesting that neither Gomez nor Foden were even in the squad. Evidently Pep's sending out warning shots across the bows of several underperforming players.

The atmosphere in the ground was fantastic today, so well done all of us!

We did what we needed to do & got a welcomed three points. We just need to concentrate on ourselves & do what we need to do in the hunt to retain the PL title.

Good result but there’s still a lot more to come from this team. We’re still playing with no recognised/established fullbacks so players are having to adapt and learn during games. Think it’s all about getting through until Europe restarts and then having everyone fit, strong, and in form.

Significant improvement on recent weeks but was by no means great performance despite the great result.

Before the first goal which came from nothing really we struggled to offer anything and were slow and ponderous again. Goal came at exactly the right moment with magic from kdb and Haaland again. After that we settled and were much better as you'd expect. Still need to step up a gear or two if we're going to put in a 10+ game winning streak that we need.

wolves were the perfect opponents for us, kept it nice enough but offered no real danger and didn't have the intensity in their game either to cause us problems.

Good day at the office, something to build on and let's hope the scum do us a favour.

who got MOTM?

Clean sheet, looked fine as they hardly troubled us. The perfect result for us to start a run of form on. Enough to keep critics and doubters at bay. March on blues!!! Well done today lads.

RAWK …

Is the robot a bit of a flat track bully? Always banging in hat-tricks against the teams down the bottom.

Never scored at Old Trafford, Anfield, Stamford Bridge, in Charity Shield or barely touched the ball in those games. United at home he banged them in but United were rotten that day.

It doesn't matter if he scored 40-50 league goals if he's not scoring in the big games they won't catch Arsenal.

And …

He is. The smaller teams are just happy to be sharing a pitch with him as opposed to actually doing their job and preventing him scoring.
He'd offer nothing to a side that doesn't create tap in after tap in.

He’s just a 25 goal (so far) tap in merchant lads and lasses.
They really need to worry about their shit show.
If that is what the Viking really is then what does that make Andy Nunez ?
