Wolves (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Nothing matters as usual at this stage of the season except the result. After a shaky start we sorted it out and got that result. As usual any Wolves chances were the result of our mistakes. Job done, pressure on our contenders.

To put this performance in to context, we were up against the in form side in the league who were trying to equal their longest winning run set back in the 1940s.

We managed to silence one of the best centre forwards in the league and win it, despite what I think were a few very questionable non-calls from the referee and VAR, especially toward the end.

I am just happy with the three points and (hopefully) no injuries after the Wolves players realised they could leave a boot in with practical impunity.

Well situated to finish comfortably top five now and look to equal Liverpool’s trophy haul this season.

Up the blues!
Give this "form team" stuff a rest. They've beaten six bottom half teams included the three relegated teams.

Some how we dug that out. I was surprised Pep took so long to make the subs as we looked very tired.

A few flashes from Doku. In tbe 2nd half he became isolated. Great constant support in the 2nd half

Spot on. Grealish should have been on for Marmoush who continues to infuriate by losing the ball and saying shots. His last one was criminal when he had Kev in space who would probably have scored. He needs to.learn it's a team game.

Bernado was much better, but I thought Gundogan missed a few passes that he would usually do in his sleep.

You might be a bit harsh on Gvardiol - he has been very good of late and matured a lot this season I think.
Gvardiol I think is a cut above some of the other I reference, definitely. That said, he can be so inconsistent, even in just one 90mins.

I think the decline of the legends has been accelerated by the players that have come in around them.

On a slightly different note, we really need to grow a pair and start tackling like we mean it!!

I would rather say Doku isolated himself, which was quite predicted. He only got 15 min of best-before date.

Not a great performance, really struggled early on but eventually got control before the goal. Apart from one dodgy spell and a late wolves flurry we were pretty much in control second half.

Passing was below par all night, all through the side. Gundogan off the pace all night. Like O’Reilly he looked a little tired.

Great to see Doku get another assist and of course another KDB goal. Need a rest and build for an intense 15 days with 4 finals.

Pretty horrific performance at times. When we showed patience that switch to Doku was bringing us so much joy but far too many players that are incapable of playing the right pass or making the right decision. Luckily we still have enough quality to win a game like tonight.

Not sure how Pep left the changes as long as he did either.

And still not seeing why Gundo gets on the pitch ahead of the other options we have. Rarely gets on the ball and when he does he usually wastes it. Jack didn't do much in the semi final but he kept the ball and kept us ticking. I'd have him in that midfield ahead of Gundo every game.

Hard watch but got the win. Big win. The post has been our friend in the last few weeks.

Thought Doku did well and was really our only threat. We don’t create much now do we.

Defensively a mess at the start. Nunes and O’Reilly really shaky in that first 30 and it carried on for Nunes. O’Reilly looks really tired now and needs a week off next week now Akanji fit.

Hopefully another win next week and we will be almost there.

Superb atmosphere. Best of the season that. Maybe Friday night is the way forward :-)

I'm not convinced by Marmoush yet but to be fair to him he's never had a settled position yet, Pep sticks him everywhere. Next season we'll get a far better idea of his abilities

Some great stuff tonight in a tight game. We controlled it for large periods but we remain vulnerable when teams impose their athleticism on us.
Akanji looked fresh when he came on: solid, and ambitious in his passing.
Doku is always dangerous and it was a super assist.
Foden looked sharper in his brief cameo.
Lewis is definitely showing developing physicality.
Bernardo is absolutely not a winger but is shining in his deeper role.
Marmoush will be a top player and has made a great start to PL life.
