Wolves - post match

Full disclosure, Liverpool fan here, and I know that gets me a lot of bile and hate on here so sorry. But, with all due respect, I just think its a bit crazy how little some people know they have. You’re looking at a team that was in the 2nd division this millennium, almost - they’ve won the centurion season (best season in PL history to me) and then the treble last year. And now you’re looking at the apparently horrific prospect of being the 2nd best side in the whole country and probably still winning 2 or 3 cups.

Your team is injury ravaged (I agree Pep should have replaced Vinny) and the desire to maintain implausible standards at the top DOES go after a couple of years, so a lull was always expected. Any club in the world apart from maybe 3 or 4 would trade positions with you right now, with the ridiculous squad and manager you have. I guess my point is, I’m surprised more people on here aren’t just enjoying the ride more. Not everything has to be a conspiracy by the FA, not everything will always go your way. But it will soon, and I guess I meant to say chin up?
I've let your post go through fella. You sound fairly reasonable. But be warned; we've had a few of your fellow Scousers on here who got lippy. Which may explain the somewhat less than warm welcome you'll probably get on here. And you will be watched closely.

No not for me either. If that was classed as a foul then literally when a players shields a ball in a corner there would be no way of winning it back and the tackle was very similar to how we press and win the ball back in the midfield and one of our most famous city goals when the Goat robbed Neville.

No excuse there and Mendy was clearly at fault. Just about summed up the night.
I thought he was fouled at the time. I don't think it was shoulder to shoulder. However, Mendy had no need to play it like that. He should have cleared it.

I swear Laporte becomes a better defender with every defeat. Don’t get me wrong, he’s probably the best defender in the league but you read some of the comments and you’d think we never lost a game with him on the pitch last season. I get the frustration but we were playing with 10 fucking men. Mendy and Otamendi are, lets be honest, a bit shite and even with Laporte playing it’s hard to say whether the errors they made would’ve still cost us goals or not. The team is losing its core of leaders (Fernandinho and Silva) and the new boys ain’t it.

We wouldn’t of lose half the game we have if Laporte was fit all season

For me the difference is that last night it was a shoulder barge which I think is still part of the game whereas pushing is not.

The barge I was talking about was against the dippers, when Sterling was pushed into the boards yesterdays when Sterling hit the bar at the end I thought it wasnt a foul . I still think the push on Mendy is a foul that wasnt shoulder to shoulder put a shove in the back

Brilliant shout, that.

It was a foul.

100% any contact with the shoulder is supposed to be with the opposition players shoulder.

Traore shoulder smashed him in the back.

Nailed on foul

Mendy would of made a meal out of that push like wolves were doing all game he would of got a free kick! But from top to bottom at our club we’re want to do everything the right way the nice way I say we should be Smarter of the park and more so on it the amount of shit we get as a club and we still want to be nice baffles me! We need the dark arts of football.

Getting tips off a dipper.... before last season they'd won 1 League cup in 12 years....you reckon he'd be here with his smug "chin up" bollocks if they weren't running away with it for the 1st time in 30 years?

Dont like Mendy as a defender think he is awful but what i cant understand with that f@#k up last night is wtf he is doing trying to shield a ball out of play that is clearly going to result in a Wolves corner.

I agree with some of your comments.

When you are Champions though it's hard to see it pass. Liverpool are Champions-elect now. Hard to say but we all know it. A dip is inevitable especially when you lose your captain, don't manage to replace him and then get two injuries in that position, and end up playing two players whose careers are coming to an end there.

It will pass. Don't though expect City fans to enjoy the moment. Not everything is a conspiracy, but the game is reported on by LIverpool and Man Utd fans, and your ex Chief Execs control a lot of committees with infuence that forms a backdrop to the game.

I don't recall whether it was going out for a corner. He made a mistake. The game was littered with them. Mendy was a great player for a brief period. There are signs his game is returning. He was out for 2 years. That is a long time. And he had major surgery. Twenty years ago his playing career would be over. Let us hope he continues to improve.

just add a 2nd thought about last night ?? the ederson sending off, is it a 3 game ban or just one game

city down to ten for most of the game and going 2 up you still knew we was shaky at the back and hate facing pace and power, also having fernandindo covering at back is a big problem even if pep does not say so, you can see the problem fernandindo and its simple he is not a defender and sadly its killing us, but last night 2 or 3 other players let themselves down and we lost the game because of mistakes and going down to ten men covers the cracks of losing when 2 up we simply can not defend

am with pep and city that things will have to wait until the summer and no panic buys in the winter window, ok maybe somebody comes onto the market and is world class then that is different, but i don't think we can sign somebody for cover or a sqaud player, ok again if a loan player can come in again we should look at that route

injuries and asking players to cover and play 3 games a week killing city we just don't have enough to rotate and rest key players, and pep will never just pick the youth and ask them to do a job he is not that type of manager and he looks after the youth and rightly so

dust yourself down and go again on sunday and hold on to the light at the end of the tunnel ?? we are still in the cups and in champions league and we don't have a fan site called AFTV or fulltimedevils

Like many on here I thought the red on Ederson was harsh. Yes he was rash but did he actually make a challenge on Jota or did Jota deliberately make sure he ran into him? To me it seemed Ederson did not alter his path to take the player down once the ball had gone by. Jota went out of his way to initiate contact much as a striker would by trailing his leg in the box to win a pen.
I don’t suppose we will appeal (or will we?) but how long will Ederson be suspended for? Is it 3 or 1 given it was a professional foul?

I actually thought Mendy had been playing OK up until that mistake. That was unforgivable though. Was he trying to shepherd it out for a corner?! What on earth was he thinking?

Mistakes I can forgive. Lack of effort not so much. Mendy isn't lazy, he is a good lad. I really hope he gets back to his best.

Raz has been phoning it in recently. I think a little sit down alongside pep for a while is in order, like Leroy at different times
