spoken like a true main stander. I reckon you were the bloke sat behind me for 20 years at Maine Road, moaning about everything.
Cool, so we’re writing him off. Just so I know.He played a damn sight more than Cancelo and when he did looked a player
All good points Marvin but last night I just felt that Pep got it wrong. It was, for me, glaringly obvious that the ball was not being retained well enough by Sterling, that’s why he should have come off instead of KDB. He could of played six in midfield, with De bruyne in an almost false nine role. I just felt we would have kept the ball better and knicked it.We didn't have the personality as a team to impose our game on Wolves. We felt tired and just decided to defend the box. Pep took KDB off. Mahrez went off. Sterling went into hiding and isn't the best at holding the ball up anyway. I feared at 2-0 they'd get one back straight away and from that moment I knew they'd win. At 75 mins or so, I began to hope but it wasn't to be.
Wolves over-powered us. It's not our season in the league for a variety of reasons. Hard to take a defeat but we should learn as a group and as fans because that is the time your failings get exposed and you have the chance as an individual to see your errors and do something about it.
The trouble for us is that Otamendi and Fernandinho are lions, but both players legs are going. We can do nothing as a team until Laporte returns. We will just have to soldier on and minimise the damage. I have wondered ever since Laporte got injured as to whether Fernandinho and Ota was the right call when we have two young central defenders. It's a big call to make but young players like Foden, Rashford, Trent etc have all played at a very young age. For me ota and fernandinho are incredibly poor that it's just not tenable to rely on them. What else can we do? Clearly now Pep is going to stick with them until Laporte returns.
Writing is on the wall for Stones unless he really seizes his chance. He has been getting injuries every 2-3 games and I don't think Pep feels he can play him. He may have to in the coming days.
We need to come through this period but it's going to be difficult with a glaring weakness in the squad.
When did I say anything about most on that list? Mendy, Mahrez and Bravo aren’t good enough though I agree. I don’t agree them two kids are saviours. You just ignore explaining why Cancelo never plays though.Cool, so we’re writing him off. Just so I know.
Gundogan
Zinchenko
Cancelo
Otemendi
Stones
Bravo
Jesus
Mahrez
All shit. Foden, Garcia and Harwood-Bellis are the saviours. Got it.
You didn’t, I just used your post for my own clarification of who we don’t like anymore. When did I say anything about most on that list? Mendy, Mahrez and Bravo aren’t good enough though I agree
I find it difficult to like a lot of modern footballers. Lack of character, fortitude and generally behave like smacked arses when things don't go their way.You didn’t, I just used your post for my own clarification of who we don’t like anymore.
You might need a new sport then mate. There’s too much money in the game now for us to have anything else, City and our beloved owners have contributed to it too. I’m with you in some respects, I hate seeing anyone pull out of a challenge but it’s the way it’s going to be nowI find it difficult to like a lot of modern footballers. Every time Gundogan and Mahrez flunk a tackle a little bit of my love of the game dies.
Buzzer was a flying winger, would he flunk a tackle? Would he fuck
I'll never not support City. But my consumption has gone way down. I only watch city now. I used to watch a lot of it.You might need a new sport then mate. Well I certainly agree that City's ball retention was awful but STerling's pace was vital. It was the most likely way to get a goal.##All good points Marvin but last night I just felt that Pep got it wrong. Is it pure stubbornness by Pep not to get Dinho back in cm and play Walker or Garcia at cb or even Rodri?Well I certainly agree that City's ball retention was awful but STerling's pace was vital. It was the most likely way to get a goal.##
We played deep deliberately. There's another game tomorrow, and that defence is not able to push up.....see what happened to Eddie as a result of playing a high line. Our defence is not worthy of the name at the moment, and that is difficult to accept but it is changing everything and influencing how we play. It's very rare that a Pep side doesn't dominate the ball but we deliberately set out to defend the penalty box last night. It almost paid off and had it done, we'd have been very happy today.
It is football, it’s just not the football you fell in love with as a nipper. It’s the game now, we embrace it or we stopI'll never not support City. But my consumption has gone way down. I only watch city now. I used to watch a lot of it.
Good games, blood and thunder games are gone. I watched the derby and there wasn't a single bit of needle in it. That's not football
Fair point. It is football, it’s just not the football you fell in love with as a nipper. It’s the game now, we embrace it or we stop
It's not what my 1st choice would be. Those 2 can not defend. They can't defend the penalty area let alone defend near the centre-circle one on one with Rashford, or Vardy. Is it pure stubbornness by Pep not to get Dinho back in cm and play Walker or Garcia at cb or even Rodri?
We might not have got the result we wanted last night. But still fantastic if flawed drama and City were nowhere near our best.It is football, it’s just not the football you fell in love with as a nipper. It’s the game now, we embrace it or we stop
I just felt at 2-0 the sub should have been made and we could have managed the game much like we did against Leicester, the game was won at 2-0. Whilst I agree about the game on Sunday we needed to make sure we took three points from this one first. Said after the half time substitution that we would invite pressure on and we did. I felt it was a very unPep thing to do, we usually defend by keeping the ball like we did against Leicester. I know blues will say that we were down to ten men, but we’ve played with ten men in the not so distant past and still dominated.Well I certainly agree that City's ball retention was awful but STerling's pace was vital. Sterling, although he scored twice, one crap penalty and one beautiful goal, did less than nothing when the chips were down. There is no fight in him at all. When we escaped into Wolves half it broke down thro' him. nearly every time. He can't or won't tackle and just ambles around like it's a practise session. KDB should have stayed on, 'cos it seemed to go downhill when he was subbed. I am not going to mention Mendy!!! Also Eddy needs a good talking to. The rest never stopped trying so I hope they had a word with those three in the dressing room at full time. Three cups still to go for though. All good points Marvin but last night I just felt that Pep got it wrong.
