Wolves thread 2019/20

They seem to have come through the early Euro qualifying rounds unscathed, anybody following them/in a position to know how they look going into the season? History suggests that playing in Europe is going to mean a lower league position this year - any reason to think otherwise?
A good manager and good squad, they may buck the trend.
Sorry mate, my reply has nothing to do with your thread but your username is one of the best I have seen on here!

Very enjoyable night at Molineux. They were all over us for the frst 20 minutes or so but then we settled into the game and played much better. Torino are a very good side and provided a stern test so to have beaten them twice over the 2 legs feels very pleasing and great to now be in the Europa League properly

I thought you were very professional tonight.

Great goal to open the scoring, and the quick response after Torino equalised took the wind out of their sails.

You pretty much controlled the game from what I saw.

Nunos reaction to winning yesterday and reaching the group stages revealed how seriously he's taking this competition. Far better than bombing out early to concentrate on the league and winning a Europa league spot again.

'Arry Redknapp and Sean Dyche, among others, take note!

According to Robbie Savage, Dyche would do exactly the same if he had Wolves resources to spend. Saunders said the same about Dyche/Guardiola. Old boys club rules

disappointing start to our league campaign and a defeat (undeserved) in our opening group game against Braga. Palace away today, not easy but could really do with a result to kickstart us

You need a goalscorer mate and soon in my view.

Jimenez and Jota have notched a few (though mainly in the Europa) but both are failing to hit the heights of last season. Raul looks jaded but he had little break last summer as he was in the World Cup prior to joining Wolves and then spent most of this summer playing for Mexico in the Gold Cup, all the way to the final which they won then only had about 2 weeks off before playing for us again in the Europa. He also has to fly back at each international break. We have Italian Patrick Cutrone too who looks busy and hungry when he plays and notched his first goal for us against Chelsea - we got beat 5-2, we were already missing the imperious Willy Boly in defense due to suspension and Nuno dropped Ryan Bennett too plus Adama Traore at RWB who is much better in an attacking than a defensive capacity

I started this thread saying Wolves are likely to struggle and unlikely to achieve the same in the league, and so it's turning out. TBH, I'm not sure that's necessarily a bad thing as such, a good run in Europa is as good as finishing a couple of league places higher than last season.

We did expect it and don't mind finishing lower in the league with a decent EL run but we weren't thinking as low as what we are at the moment! Hopefully that improves and soon.

Nuno has made some changes in personnel and formation today, he has left Ryan Bennett out of the squad, it was him who gave the ball away on Thursday for Braga's winner. Lets hope it pays off

Spending money - buying success - ruining football................

Good for them - I hope they overtake the rags, Spuds, Arse and Chelski in the table as a reward.
Wolves may have to curb their spending. Their owners were big shareholders in T Cook and have lost a bomb.

The money that Fosun lost, though a large amount of money, is pin money to them and entirely separate from Wolves, no worries here.

Big game Sunday, beware you lot, we're on a role - 4 points from 6!

Funny enough so are we.

Funny enough so are we.

You guys are always on a roll!

Seriously though, it was a relief to get our first win of the season as its been a struggle so far.

I don't fancy our chances on Sunday, City and Liverpool are the only 2 teams I would say that about

Flying back from Istanbul 48hrs beforehand probably isn't the best preparation either
