Here's one thing I took away from this article. I am a father of two girls, both athletes (different sports).

They are both extremely athletic and some of the better players in the area in which we live. My older one has received an international call up. The younger is too young for that but has played for select teams in international tournaments and is recognized as the top player at her position in the area by coaches. Not just her own but coaches of other teams. I say all this not to boast but to maybe give credence that I may, may, know what I am speaking about.

Taylor, in the article, mentions, "this tight ship." That is the problem. He runs a "tight ship" and I imagine he's very proud of it or he wouldn't mention it.

Managing, and coaching, women and girls is different than coaching men and boys. Males "feel good" if they are playing well. With females, it is really the opposite. If they "feel good" they play better. It's the way it is and this may be part of Taylor's problem with the City women's team.

This has only tangentially to do with Chloe Kelly but speaks more to his problem as a whole. Steph had issues with him, obviously Chloe did (this isn't about her form, etc). It appears other players who left possibly did as well.

It has become my opinion that Taylor's mindset of "tight ship," hard man or whatever turns the women off and he isn't able to get the best out of them. And yes, you can run a disciplined training session and still get the most out of female athletes. They just need to be treated slightly differently than males.

It's what a woman's team should be managed by a woman

Great post, and agreed.

Steph was on Monday Night Club and reading between the lines made this very point about Taylor, whilst talking about the new Chelsea manager positively, and when asked if she had ever experienced a coach who had similar qualities mentioned the England manager but specifically omitted to mention her club manager.

The gist of the convo was that the Chelsea coach was a great people-person as well as being a good coach, and whilst remaining a professional distance when needed, also got to know her players and could relate to them on a human level, with some warmth. My own instinct from listening to him is that he doesn’t possess that quality, and I can’t recall any instances of former players saying he does either.

I doubt that would have concerned City, her own comments "suggest" that we prevented her going there, in favour of a loan to arsenal.
Of course not, but perhaps that's why we wouldn't sell outright to united, they wouldn't pay the transfer fee we thought was appropriate plus her wage demands so they tried offering us less? Didn't they want us to pay some of her wages if going on loan?

All conjecture obviously and her latest statement plus the one from her agent just confuses matters more to my mind. Perhaps that was the point though.

An ex-Manchester City player (Keira Walsh) out and another ex-Manchester City (Ellie Roebuck) in, and Barcelona lost to Levante. (City is ruining football for Barcelona). It was their first loss in 84 home games. It was also their first loss since last October when they lost to City in the Champions League. This was only the second game for Roebuck, and the first was back in December. Apart from that, she sits on the bench. Not surprising, as I never thought she was that good. The 2 goalkeepers we have now are at a higher level than her. As for Keira, it is disappointing to see her coming back to England and not playing for City. She was excellent, and I enjoyed watching her playing for City. Then, she became a regular starter for Barcelona, which I would imagine was not easy considering the quality of her teammates. This further supports how good she is. Regardless, I thought some on here would enjoy watching Barcelona losing. The ref gave 13 minutes injury time (original was only 7 minutes), and they still lost at the end. :))

Great post.

I was at a training day when Steve Peters (an English psychiatrist who worked with British Cycling amongst others).

Told a story about a female cyclist who was struggling at the Olympics. She was in difficult place and needed support from the 'team' away from the track.
Apparently one afternoon he took her away from the rest of the athletes and went for a walk. He took her to a hairdressers (he'd booked her in beforehand).

He said she came out looking great and in different place because of how she looked.
It was a simple thing but it had changed her focus. Her confidence was up because she felt she looked good.

Heading up to the Joie for the first of the clubs arse clashes of the day. Games neither of our teams can afford to lose really, women's team especially.

Watching this Villa<>Chelsea game and the quality is absolutely dire.

Whilst the women's game is getting the investment and the coverage, it really doesn't seem to be moving forward in terms of entertainment.

I understand where you're coming from but don't let her live rent free in your head. It's not worth it.

I don't and never will invest any emotion or feeling for any modern player male or female, nothing surprises me anymore.

Next round of the FA Cup has been drawn. We play Villa at home on 8/9th March. We play 8 times in March.. hope we get some injured players back in time.

That Womens FA Cup QF draw was quite something. All the 4 big guns kept apart and all given home ties - rather convenient for the sponsor and FA dont you think!

Yeah obvs I want us to get as far as possible but it does take away a bit of the magic when you have a strong prospect of the top four in the semis. V boring (not that we're guaranteed to beat Villa though)
