Trouble with playing in the summer is it's out of sync with the rest of football, not only the men's game but the rest of the women's game too.

Doesn't need to be in sync with the men's game! I was never convinced that there was a very good reason for changing it in the first place. I think there was some mention of World Cups and international tournaments needing to beat the back end of the season rather than at the front end. It needs tweeking but if it's left as it is it'll never bring the crowds in that I think a Summer season would.

I think he meant out of sync with the women’s game across Europe

We used to go to a couple of games when they were in the summer, but can’t find the motivation in the winter.

Ah, that was it! We ended up playing the CL games in God knows what season!
Yes thats what I meant , The WSL was out of sync with the rest of the women's game ie women's champions league and the women's FA cup . The trouble is the stadium and how open the stands are to the elements. Like you said about the ends of the East stand being open to the wind and rain . I've been to games in summer that have been absolutely freezing .

Yep, but no matter how cold it's been in June it couldn't have been much colder for a January night in Beswick! I had handwarmers inside my gloves but I should have had my cycling tights under my trousers. Effin' freezing, and as I posted earlier, not a goal in the second half to warm the spirit! That kind of thing will persuade a hundred or so waverers not to attend the next game if the weather looks a bit iffy!

Personally I also feel people don't feel too welcome at the stadium with the over the top stewarding , and the lack of stuff like a bar . I bet you would get bigger crowds if they played on a local none league ground , I think you've only got to look at the EDS games and how the attendances have dropped since they stopped played at Hyde Utd's ground !

I’ve been to the new academy stadium more than I went to Hyde.
Hyde was easier to get to but the main reasons are it’s freezing, why the sides are not built i is ridiculous, and the lack of choice for drinks is a put off.
I’ve never felt an issue with the stewarding but I’ve wondered why we can’t get a pint and take it to our seats. Or why we can stand behind the goal for some games but can’t for others.

What I was hinting at was, the Academy stadium should run more like a none league ground. At Hyde you've got that club/pub in the ground what you can use before and at half time . If the Academy stadium had one, would be something to do/ go both the game and at half time. Also if they was a bar/club, it could be used before the men games too . Personally I think that stadium could be used a lot more, with what seems loads of unused space , ie back of the West stand in the stadium , surely this could be turned into a new City Square type of area for matches at both stadiums ? As for the a stewarding , all there needed for is to guard the gates at the women's games really . Surely you don't need 5 or 6 stood at the front of the stand (causing a viewing problem) or for them to stop people for standing ( when it's open) because they've bought a seat ticket , when the stand as about 20 people stood up already .
