There are two possibilities, either they have signed short term deals in order to experience the English game but have no intention of staying any longer, or they have signed short term deals with a view to assessing the club and their enjoyment of the football with the intention to sign longer term if they like what they see. Have they made any comments about which of the two possibilities is true?

I thought they came over here because the American league was cancelled and that is why other Americans ended up all over the league.

I am not sure how transfers out of the American set up works tbh

I would love us to sign both of them, Mewis has shown what she is about but we all know that Lavelle has loads of talent as well.

One thing I thought was a little odd was Mewis getting the armband when White was subbed off. Would've thought that Stanway or maybe even Greenwood or Dahlkemper would be ahead of Sammie in that respect given age and experience levels.

If I can recall correctly, our Sam is also the current captain of the USWNT. I'd suspect if she can have the respect of that lot, and the egos contained therein, she will do just fine here.

Current USA captain is Becky Sauerbrunn. She was the captain in the last “She Believes” tournament. Mewis was never a captain.

I thought Keira Walsh would of got it , when you watch her on the pitch, she is directing the play even when she's not on the ball !
But maybe Taylor already decided she was coming off so give Sam Mewis ?
