I'm not so sure what 'our best' looks like anymore. I've only watched this on the MDC but 74% possession of which, I suspect, 99% will be between the halfway line and ten yards from the Birmingham penalty area. We rely too much on a moment of quality from individuals to snatch a goal. The 26% Birmingham had could have resulted in half a dozen goals had they known where the goals were. Our defence is like a collander. It's good to snaffle the points but this should have been a comfortable win, sewn up by HT. I did notice that the possession stat and the fouls stat seems to mirror what the men end up with lion's share of ball by a mile and the lion's share of the fouls and cards!
I agree that we aren’t that good this season. I don’t think there are any quick fixes because the gulf in quality between ourselves and Chelski and Arsenal. We just need to take confidence from a couple of wins and try to be the best of the rest.

Hopefully, if we can keep Hemp and Rasso attacking down the flanks we will create more for chances for White and Shaw. Weir and Losada will hopefully strike up an understanding in midfield and maybe Mace will develop into what we are missing in central defence.

I think we need more power through the spine of the team and Mewis’s departure left a gaping gap in the team.

Kinell, Mace. I think that's going too far.

Well done City Women. A battling display when we were far from our best. We got that third goal and the football started flowing for a few minutes, in between running down the clock. We need to take any win atm.

Stanway asked to play everywhere but her best position. England players coming back from international duty looking heavy legged. Taylor unable to instil a clear style of play.
Three missing today due to Covid too, Walsh and Beckie tested positive, and Bronze who would have played, isolating as a close contact of Walsh.

A win, when we can only name 4 subs, and are missing the bulk of the England squad, is a win.

Yer right, Tim. We are lacking a good measure of dynamism in the spot where Mewis played last season. The injuries don't help, and we would have been a much better outfit had Chloe Kelly been availably in the matches where we struggled.

Just watched the ‘highlights’ on BBC iPlayer. Weir was anonymous, Kennedy was poor…again, Mace had her worst game so far for City, keeper inspires no confidence at all. That Hi-Vis kit reminds you she’s High Piss.
Did you spot what happened to Bunny Shaw after the pass to Ellen White? Absolutely hilarious….watch it on iPlayer.

Something elese that bugged me about yesterday's team from the footballing genius that is Gareth Taylor was the defensive selection. Playing a centre half at right back and playing Stanway at left back while having Greenwood who is a left back in the centre. Surely it would have made more sense with Georgia at right back (where she's been playing most of the season), Mace & Kennedy & Greenwood in their more natural positions?

Well said. You can be Head Coach from now on.
What bugs me is the total lack of Academy players getting anywhere near the first team squad. Makes me wonder if we actually have a Women’s Academy squad or are they all under-9s??
