The start we make this year will tell us a lot about what is in store. The manager has had time with the new players, has few injuries so the excuses will not be valid if we don't go well. For me Taylor doesn't know his arse from his elbow. He seems to want versatility in players rather than putting together a team where each player knows their role.

He needs to not just play his favourites - a midfield made up with Coombs as your centre piece is a mid table level at best. I don't hold out much hope to be honest. The way he treated Lavelle, Beckie, Losada, Stanway, Blakstad makes me think he doesn't understand how important it is to have creativity in a key position. Please don't try and convert Fowler to replace Walsh and please revert Blakstad from being a fullback - we have that covered now.

I like the enthusiasm of the new signings but hope that doesn't disappear after several coaching sessions with out inept manager.

Deyna, Shaw, Hemp is a decent forward line with pace & power. Raso & Fowler are decent options and of course Chloe.
Base your midfield around Losada's passing by putting energy around her. Angeldhal & Laia could do that with Blakstad as an option.
Pick four defenders from your defence heavy squad - most importantly don't tinker and let the players grow into this lineup.

I guess we will know more by Sunday night.

I realise she doesn't play for us anymore. However, I thought this was a very good article on Rose Lavelle. If i could i'd have her back at City in a heartbeat.

I was at the match last night. She was electrifying, all over the pitch and you felt as if something was going to happen whenever she got the ball. There was a dad with his two daughters behind us. From their conversation it was obvious they were the football fans and he had come along with them. The fella absolutely fell in love with her for her skill, pace and toughness for her size.

And if anyone is wondering, the stadium had a standing section, and you could have beer at your seats and that included having it in the standing section. Hell, they had men and women walking around during the match with a basket of 24 ounce tins selling it in the stands.

ESPN: Lavelle leads USWNT in win despite seeing Nigeria snap impressive shutout streak. https://www.espn.com/soccer/blog-the-match/story/4740266/rose-lavelle-leads-uswnts-fluid-attack-in-win-despite-seeing-nigeria-snap-impressive-shutout-streak

I was absolutely thrilled when City signed her as she is a terrific player imo.

I was so disappointed that her time with us turned out the way it did, possibly a number of reasons, but I always felt that Taylor wasn't keen on playing her and that she left feeling unappreciated and under used.

That episode ( rightly or wrongly ) has defintely clouded my impression of Taylor in his role with the team.

Strange, we are selling one of our best players just before the season starts
OK we are out of the Champions League, but you hoped for a very strong push this season in the league and cups

And considering the 3000% increase in interest from the fans too ;)

Greed is also in the ladies game and loyalty counts for nothing

I don't know about the interest in the ladies game even after the euros, it will never reach the levels of the men's game, in fact it needs the men's game to bounce off, if your men's team is doing well than the ladies team sort of fits the hand in glove momentum

The BBC headlines refer to “Englands Walsh”…….. any idea what club side she played for??

It’s not really greed.

Football is their job. If you could get twice your salary in a warmer city doing exactly the same job as you are now, would you take it or stay put?

Anyone else seen this thread on Twitter? Sorry, I can only copy the original tweet but those with access to the app or site might be interested in the whole of his long thread. The guy is a Chelsea fan, but it's a telling view from afar:

For those who can't look at the whole thread, the conclusion is here:
