Women's Team Thread 2023/2024

Yeah, I watched the England Women last night and as Millie Bright demonstrated that she had the touch of a dead hippo she lumbered about like some nailed on footballing disaster waiting to happen. And all the time there's Alex wrapped up against a Northumbrian Summer twiddling her thumbs, and this morning the BBC, yeah, even those cunts, described our Alex as 'the in form Greenwood'!
I agree, Bright had an awful game.

I thought England women were very disappointing last night, it wasn't just Bright who was cumbersome, most of the team were. It was all very tedious without a great deal of excitement in the forward play.

The French tactics were very good. Everything for England either goes through Keira Walsh or hoof balls for either Russo to hold up or Hemp to chase down. Keira was constantly marked so that left the hoof balls and the French picked up more than 60% of those. Thought Toone & Stanway gave us nothing in the middle of the park. Other than set pieces the French weren't that dangerous but their two goals were both excellent finishes.

I think Hasegawa definitely belongs in that category too.

Yeah, maybe. She’s on the cusp for me tbh.
Behind Hempo, I think she's become my 2nd favourite player in the current squad. To have taken the spot (that's not her preferred position) from an iconic player in Keira Walsh and put in the performances that she has for us has been nothing short of remarkable. Seems like a wonderful person too (not that I know her personally but that's how she comes across).

I would add Aleixandri too. She's a world class defender only 23 and no coincidence that she's Spains regular central defender now. So not a bad side really!!

100%. In the past I generally could understand why Bright was picked, she did a job etc, but looking at her last night, sorry, but she looked past it; cumbersome, slow, too heavy, when up against a mobile French team.
They looked physical, but in a good way, where she reminded me of Maguire at his worst.
Whilst we’re here I’m not sure Williamson covered herself in glory. Her passing from the pass was often average. In fact the only one of the back for who looked competent to me was Bronze.
Post-match interview left me totally uninspired. She should have come on with a bit of defiance but all we got was seemingly an acceptance that it was the 'usual' reverse performance. I think the bubble has burst and it shouldn't have done so soon after the Euro triumph.

I thought when Keira left we'd have one bloody great hole in midfield but Yui has filled it and added a bit more. She's made from the same stamina mould that perfected Bernardo.
