Women's Team Thread 2024/2025

His time really needs to be brought to a swift end and replaced with a manager who actually knows what they are doing.

It's comments like this that makes me stick up for him, and that annoys me because I still don't know what I think of him.

We're doing well in the league and in Europe. In fact, it's hard to do better than we're doing. Chelsea have an incredible large and quality squad and it is really difficult to finish above them.

It's possible he's doing ok. Could he do better? Yes. Could he do worse? Yes. Does that mean he doesn't know what he's doing? No.

Admittedly it doesn't guarantee he does though either....

I fancy that GT will have another scenario to this one. I don't know what it might be, and I think he won't know yet, but he'll no doubt conjure summat up to keep Chloe on the bench!

We've got options. Any team would miss Lauren, but we're probably better equipped than most to cope in the short term.

Fujino, Fowler, Kelly and Park could all play there. Plus Lily Murphy and O'Hanlon maybe too. Maybe even Miedema too, depending on her fitness etc (can't remember her current status).

I am sorry my post upsets you, but I don't believe that he is the best manager that the club could employ based upon what I see from his demeanour and tactical input.

It could be that despite his input, which I interpret as passive at best, the players somehow manage to produce results as part of a good squad.

That doesn't mean that they couldn't be improved by another manager surely?

Plus it appears that he favours certain players and we do seem to have had a large turn over of good players. Now how much of that is down to money or a personality issue if hard to know. But I do not get the impression that he is a popular manager.

That is not the most important aspect however, but more importantly is he respected by the players, and it is that aspect which bothers me.

If you feel the need to stick up for him, although not sure about that sentiment, then do so as it won't change my opinions of him as a coach/manager.

I just mean I'm not sure I want to stick up for him either - it's just posts that are so fully critical of him seem slightly OTT.

The difficulty with him (for me) is that as he hasn't managed anywhere else there's no track record to speak of, and I personally find it difficult to tell if he's any good or not.

But I know that most clubs would have wanted to be where we were last year, and most would take where we are now.

Like I say though, I'm on the fence about him and if someone was saying he's great, I'd have gone the other way and be more critical. But nobody praises him, so.... :/

One question though - what would it take City to achieve this season for you to change your mind and think he might be worth keeping?

I personally doubt that we will shift Chelsea off the top so I don't expect us to win the league.

However I would really like to see more positive and progressive attacking play, especially when we clearly have control of the game.

Too often we appear to just go through the motions without an end product.

Alas one of the biggest flaws is the all too familiar City malaise of not scoring enough goals from the chances created, although I doubt that Taylor would know how to improve that, based upon his own limited ability in that aspect.

Agree, there's times where teams look there for the taking and we seem happy to play out time almost. Even if just for the excitement of the fans, it would be better to be a little more direct in those circumstances.

It feels like we are saving our legs when we do this. If we end up fit and fresh at the end of the season, then maybe it's worthwhile, but I'm not sure.

Tbh this is his first season where I'll be disappointed if we finish 2nd. That view might change if we end up with loads of injuries or going very far in Europe, but it does feel like the strongest XI is good enough and there are some other quality options also. Time for him to prove himself I guess.
