Woolwich killing

I would like to send my sincerest condolences to the family of the soldier killed, by the Islamic terrorists today. A truly shocking and despicable act of violence and all because he was wearing a help the heroes t-shirt.

It makes me feel sick to the stomach.

As an ex squaddie, there is lots I want to say on here, however, to avoid confrontation with fellow blues and a certain life ban from here I will just echo these thoughts and take my leave. RIP mate

Massive fucking lead lined helmet on here. But does nobody think machete man kind of had a point, and the best way to stop things like this is to get out of wars we have no business in being in. Judging by some reactions on here, a random stranger being murdered stirs up some strong hate in people. Now imagine if you were an afghan and a load of foreigners come over and bomb your town, killing your friends, children and women. Surely that would provoke an extreme response ? As long as we keep on conducting campaigns in these sort of places thinking we can change thousands of years of cultural issues by running in, blowing shit up and shouting FUCK YEAH DEMOCRACY. People will continue to be radicalized by groups like Al-Qaeda, and will inevitably find an impressionable audience in disaffected Muslim youths who haven't been integrated into mainstream society or educated on the dangers of extremism. Mindless hate and violence solves nothing, unless your in an argument with a rag. !

None of that remotely justifies what he did.....

Didn't say it did, just saying there are reasons behind it. The guy genuinely thought he was doing a good thing. He was brainwashed, and its a lot easier to convince an impressionable youth if you can show them pictures of dismembered Iraqi and Afghan children and use them to back up their argument that British soldiers are the enemy.

When people stop worshiping and some carrying out heinous acts in the name of some imaginary beings, that would be a good start!

It's been mentioned that these two hail from Somalia and Nigeria. If so, there's more than enough fucked up shit being perpetrated by their own people in their own countries to be keeping their tiny little minds occupied without getting on their high horse about what the British might be doing somewhere else in the world. So they're not really in a position to be preaching to anybody about anything.

I don't think he was trying to justify the act. He was just pointing out how and why people can become radicalized.

I agree, but its easier said than done when your whole social circle and family are religious fucknuts. We need to get to the children in these circumstances and educate them against extremist views or it just continues in a cycle. Personally if I was PM I would remove all sort of political power from religious institutions as every single devoutly religious person is a fuckwit of the highest order with no concept of logic or reality.

If someone tells me they are a practicing Christian,Jew,Muslim the idiot alarm bell immediately starts ringing through my head.

These people judging from the video were not recent immigrants, where their fathers came from is irrelevant. The social issues I talked about apply to anybody with a disaffected background regardeless of race or heritage who are made to feel valued and feel like they are fighting for something by these radical Imans. The 7/7 bombers were born and raised in England. One of the people trying to commit atrocities at the EDL rally in Birmingham was a white Briton. You need to tackle the cause not the symptom.

-- Thu May 23, 2013 8:23 am --

Personally I don't believe 9/11 was committed by Al-Quaeda, but people in the middle east have plenty of reasons to despise America. The Madrid bombings were by a Basque separatist group.
