You do not have to say anything but it may harm your defence if you do not mention you may rely on etc
My late sister in-law would say something along the lines of,our Mary and Clare like went to Wales last week like, why couldn’t she just say Mary and Clare went to Wales last week.Erm,
We were in Canada a couple of years ago and we got on the train in Toronto, opposite us were four young girls probably aged about 18, we could hear the whole conversation as they were quite giggly and loud and every second friggin word was "like"...I don’t half hate the overuse of the word “like”.
For example, “there are like twenty houses down our street” “I had my tea at like six o’clock”… just, NO!
but I do say “d’you know what I mean like?”
