World class is a label given to far too many players, but there are some quality right backs out there. Sergio Ramos, Maicon, Dani Alves, Glen Johnson too name but a few.

I can't comment on the others but Johnson is massively overrated as he's likes to get forward far often and isn't the best defensively.

gosh,sorry for making an off the wall suggestion...yeh,imagine swp defending a corner instead of the 6 foot 4 zabeleta....that danny alves must be..ooh 5 foot 6. you may have noticed how many times he pulls micah out during one of his "jogbacks" hardly alien to him defending.

Ive thought myself once or twice why not just try SWP there for one or two games, he's not afraid to tackle and he has the pace to overlap and get back. Can he do any worse than Zabs and Micah.

i have thought of it too he ticks many boxes but he'd get raped at far post crosses and teams would be aiming for him all game, i'd go for alan hutton at spurs, maybe not be the marquee signing people want but he is a very good RB gets forward well too and he isn't settled in london, he had many admirers before the spuds got him including united

we need a right back who defends AND beats players..someone in the ashley cole mould..zab and micah can defend but are very limited going forwards.

I think that you or me couldn't do any worse than Micah. He really hasn't got a clue. If not SWP that what about Benjani? Got to be some use somewhere surely.

Seriously, I'd forego world class and quite happily settle for reliable and competent. The only major problem with Pab Zab is that he dives in far too quickly. If you could coach that out of him then you'd have a decent full-back. Plus we've got Ned who is a bright lad and pretty good player.

How about Corluka ? or (and I'll get my tin hat on for this) but Ryan Shawcross does a very good job for Stoke when he plays there. I know the Rags and Spurs were looking at him.

Shawcross has been playing CH mostly this season but i'm sure he played RB most of last season. I would love Alves but don't you think we may need a more defensive RB?

Micah showed yesterday quite clearly that he does not have the brains or engine ( compare his coverage to that of Bridge who is hardly the greatest ) to be a right back . RB's don't win you games , our problems are I fear much deeper than that .
