He's part and parcel of what gives them so much going forward, and alot of the time he's caught well out of position if the opposing team were to hit on the break. Luckily though, he plays for the best team in the world and has more than adequate cover when he is exposed.
If we were to sign Dani Alves, the only benefit of it would be the fact that his bursts forward end up with a perfect cross. He would be left as exposed as Micah or Bridge and given the fact our defence is a shambles at the moment, he really offers no more than what we currently have. Micah defends quite well, when he's not exposed with a long/through ball to a pacey winger. Zab's positional awareness is far better, however I believe my grandmother could pass the ball better out of defence.
Considering Micah's biggest issue is his positional awareness (and the stick he gets doesn't help at all I'd assume) is the main factor is his dismal displays, it really does point to the coaching as nothing has been done to rectify the problem. It's exactly the same with Maicon too, with our lack of communication and leadership in and around our defence, any "World Class" right back would be left horribly exposed, and big Nige would be working his socks off to get back and cover. So if what you're all calling for is a full back who plays more like a centre half, then I think it would be quite fair to give Nedum a game there and tell him not to push on. Alternatively, if you want full backs that push on, overlap and get back into position when the time comes... everything points to new defensive coaches.
