World Cup 2018 | 26th June Matches | Next: Argentina vs Nigeria, Iceland vs Croatia, KO 19:00 (BST)

Anyone think Argentina better (or at least stand a better chance) with Aguero and Higuain on together? Higuain's blown chance over the bar was due (in some part) to Aguero's run ahead of it. The winning goal definitely was. Not sure the implications for the rest of the XI, but at least they moved Nigeria around in the box.

If you drop Mascherano or Di Maria for Dybala (understood not all like for like) don't you start to see a more fluid attacking team?

If you're up against France you might as well go for it.

The rules mention a deliberate action & that an arm being stuck out does not necessarily constitute handball & the arm should move toward the ball, not vice versa.

So neither are pens, in a million fucking years.
Of course you are correct that the Rules state that the act must be deliberate. However according to Graham Poll, who knows a bit about this, referees are being asked to interpret “deliberate,” The old “rule” of hand to ball doesn’t apply any more. According to Poll refs have to consider “proximity of the offender to the person last playing the ball, the speed of the ball and whether the offender had his arms in natural or unnatural position” he goes on to say if the offender deliberately placed his arms in a unnatural position to increase the chances of the ball hitting them, then a penalty should be awarded even though it was ball to hand.
Rojo had his arms up in a horizontal position and he headed the ball down onto them. I dont know if the arms were in a natural position but do I think it was worth consideration.

Ta, spot on. Arms lifted away from the body in the area, pay the price if the ball makes contact with them.

I don’t think it’s a pen, but if the one last night for Iran was a pen then it must be. Got to be consistent.

They're all penalties by the rules of the game. People have just spent the last 3 decades listening to the G14 club muddying the issue by talking shite about intent to excuse penalties not given or non penalties given.
Accidentally stop the ball in the area with your hand? Penalty.
Accidentally take an attackers legs out while tackling for the ball in the area? Penalty.
It's all foul play.

if Kelly thinks that gag’s at all funny, then it’s odds on that he’s pretty much off his face as well.

Who are they kidding. That kind of footage is exactly the kind of video footage that all of those self righteous hypocrites, who have no doubt followed Maradona’s every step in their millions today, were looking for.... And are, no doubt, “throwing one off” as a consequence of, in their hotel rooms tonight, as the huge excitement of its cause & effect (In terms tomorrow’s mega headline) slowly dawns on them.

Poll is talking shite & just basically, long windedly repeating the rules Lineker read out.

We all know neither player deliberately handled the ball & neither player had any time to react & neither player had their arms in an unnatural position.

And neither is a pen, in a million years.

Well what do you think his motive might be, for heading e ball onto his arm ? A payoff from a betting syndicate for giving away a pen perhaps ?

And the guy in the Iran game, what advantage was he seeking by turning his back & stopping the ball from hitting the grund next to him ?

The only way any of these things are penalties, is due to inept reffing or cheating. They are not penaltys according to the rules of the game.

If you are making up the rules then fine, but not according to the ones written in the rule book.
