World Cup 2018 | 3rd July | R16: Colombia vs England Match Thread, KO 19:00 (BST)

Sterling currently rated as England's worst player with 4.3 on the BBC.

yes just seen that - amazing isn't it - I don't care how biased you are surely people can see that he has been given a role and he is doing it - and for someone who is a small skilful explosive player its a strange role - he is almost a target man, his job is to come off the defenders and play the midfield runner in - but Lingard and Alli aren't making the runs he needs. Added to that England don't have a player that can make the pass to release Sterling round the back - and when he sent Lingard away after a great break Lingard stubbed his foot and fell away.. And that a difference when he came off - I actually thought it was a reasonable call - they were dropping deeper and Vardy as the out ball could have been effective - but actually it meant that Sterlings industry was missing in the middle of the park.

So yes whatever he does - Raz will be the scapegoat - just needs to come back to us and be loved (apart from those who scapegoat him for City as well)

No midfield creativity whatsoever. Stones excellent. Raz brilliant at exploiting and making space but when he has the ball at his feet, he looks to me like he's just waiting for a foul to appeal for. If anybody on here expected Jordan Henderson to score, they're a fucking liar. It was one of the only forward passes he made all night

Thought stones was excellent, walker very decent and sterling worked hard.

We are not good enough to beat France or Brazil based on that.

We will struggle to beat anyone playing like that. We rely too much on set pieces. To be honest I would go 4-4-2. Dropping Trippier and putting Walker back in the back four. Bring Rashford in, bring Rose in for Young. Midfield I’m not sure as we just don’t have anyone who is any good.

Pleased for Trippier scoring the pen. Thought he was a bit iffy tonight, his worst game, but stood up to be counted when needed.

By the way, where was Vardy in the shoot out?

I know it’s going to be another thread but I really hope we don’t go with the same format in the next game. We need more in midfield. I think we need a conventional 4 4 2. Rose in place of Young.
