I became disillusioned with the whole England set up a few years ago for many reasons. The ineptitude of the FA, a succession of poor managers picking ‘names’ instead of players that could work as a team, the fans causing trouble wherever they went and various other things.
Credit where it’s due though - Southgate has slowly but surely started to change that and I like the way he handles himself. He’s shaping a young squad of what on paper would be regarded as an unfancied team and moulded them into a sum greater than their parts.
Sadly a large section of the fans are still showing that they know fuck all with their berating of Sterling but I suppose baby steps are the way forward.
Good luck to them, they haven’t set the tournament alight so far but they haven’t needed to. The next game will be their sternest test and if they can overcome Croatia then fair fucks to them.
