I assume they've started adding bonus points for group winners as I suddenly dropped 7 points back for predicting Portugal as group winners.

Yep, have a look at "leaderboard/bonus" to see all predictions.

Later in the tournament it sometimes makes sense to predict single matches as a hedge in respect to possible bonus points...
