Police are currently investigating raids by thieves on the homes of two football stars Raheem Sterling and Bruno Fernandes, both included in their respective international squads for the World Cup in Qatar.
Detectives say that the raid on Sterling's home bagged a substantial haul of medals from his residence including five League Cup medals, four Premier League Winners' medals and numerous other personal honours.
A police spokesman said: "These raids have been highly distressing for both players and their families. The thieves' motive for targeting Sterling's distinguished and valuable medal collection is obvious... the motive behind stealing Bruno's 25m length swimming award and Cycling Proficiency Certificate is not so clear."
