I love the win but I always feel bad for teams that we beat. 90% of Americans don't give a shit and everybody else in the world lives for this.

Well done. Took spirit to go again after the equalizer. Loved the scorer's reaction.

21 years old too. Just a kid. Hope he enjoys it for decades to come. :)

That will help to continue to raise the profile of the game over here, huge for footy in the US that win especially if they can follow it up with a result against Portugal.

Looks like a prospect for the future. He defended very well when he came on.

We have some good young talent actually although some of them lost their composure tonight.

Yes, Johannsson did not seem a very good target man, and Bradley was very hot and cold.

Brooks looked the part, though, and I thought Beasley played fairly well.

NERD ALERT*

It looks much more open, earlier on. My mate stupidly said there are hardly any goals.

Only 6 teams (IRAN, NIGERIA, GERMANY, FRANCE, COLOMBIA, and MEXICO) have clean sheets from the 28 sides that have played so far.

I always remember group stage fixtures as ending tightly or in draws (it was 6 draws; and 7 games decided by 1 goal in the opening round of group stage fixtures last time). In 2006 it was 6 wins by 1 goal in difference to 3 draws on the opening fixture round.

This time round we have had 1 draw, and 6 games determined by the difference of 1 goal.

The average 3.14 goals per game is up a little on the 2010 World Cup's 2.27 goals/game (similar to that of 2006).

2002 Goals scored 161
2006 Goals scored 147
2010 Goals scored 145
2014 Goals scored 44+

*quiet day at work today.

I think the new Adidas Brazuca-that-veruca ball is working. That said how many massively spooned shots have you we seen?! "Threee points for Wigan" seems a common phrase...
