World Player of the Year must go to a Bayern Muncih Player?

Winning trophies shouldn't decide the best player award, being the best player should. It's possible that a team can play well together at the right moments and win a trophy, that doesn't mean they have the worlds best player in their side at all.

Messi has scored 60 times in 50 games which is unreal. Just because he's done that sort of thing before doesn't mean he should be judged more harshly and not get the award.

Part of the reason no one Bayern player stands out so much is, because they have such a strong team. Messi did not stand out half as much in 011 or 09, because the teams were not built around him other players shone.

Muller, Ribery and Lahm do stand out for me. They have been fantastic and instrumental all season. Lahm in particular is the best full back I since Maldini. Was part of a record breaking defense, was a great attacking threat and created goals. He would be my choice, but he won't even make the top 10.
So 09 the year Barcelona won every trophy available and Messi was recognised as one of the greatest players on the planet and 11 where Barcelona won every trophy available and Messi was confirmed as the greatest player on the planet and had a season of nearly 1 goal per game and numerous assists

Yes, but he did not stand out as much. It's not like Etoo, Xavi or even Iniesta did not hav outstanding seasons. In 011 once again Villa, Xavi and Iniesta were shining just as much.

Thats my point though he did stand out, all the talk was about him and how he made the team work along with Xavi but its long been accepted that Xavi is exceptional. If he didn't stand out he wouldn't of won the Ballon D'or those seasons as well. Messi may have had more players on form along side him but he still stood out above them. Thats the difference between him and world class

But it is not "best player from the strongest team - of the year", it is "player of the year" and no one comes close to Messi. And very few do in the history of the game (if any).

60 goals and 14 assists says it goes to Messi[/.

Not including the fact Messi broke the record goals total in a calendar year as well, that won't be forgotten.
No that's fuckin ridiculous he just won the last award for achieving that feat so u think that feat is worth 2 balloon d'ors? No fuck that comments like that is why the system is designed to give it to messi regardless

Messi will win it, he is a phenomenon and is clearly the best player in the world.

Bayern deserve best team though.
Agreed. To be fair to ''supercrystal7'' though, he is probably still floating around in the clouds after the play off game on monday, and wasn't thinking straight when he suggested that any individual Bayern player is better than Messi. Either that, or he's on a massive (sorry!) WUM trip.

I'm just stating that the feat he reached with regards to most goals in a calendar year, including part of this season, won't be forgotten by those who vote.

Also, factor in his 60 goals and 14 assists that in part helped Barca win La Liga along with the fact he's simply unplayable 9.9/10 and he'll win it.
