Worry

I bloke once said to me that nothing is ever as bad as as the worry to asign to it,

Damn right as well, try it some time.

The next time you are worring about something think back after the event and see if it was as bad as you were predictiing.

The other one is " It will be alright in the end, if it's not alright, it's not the end"

Both of these work IF you can remember them in the middile of all your stress and worries.......

at 40..i only worry about my gorgeous kids..fuck all else really.

Totally agree. Your a long time dead simple as.

All well and good but how do you stop worrying? How do you stop things going over and over in your mind and how do you stop waking up at 4 in the morning and not being able to sleep?

Someone above suggested meditation but if you've never done it before where do you start?

By sitting down, relaxing and clearing your head of all but one thought.

Try having a piping hot soapy bubble bath, light a scented candle, turn all the lights off, and just let yourself totally relax for 20 minutes, just thinking about......nothing.

If you wake up in the early hours and can't get back to sleep, churning negative thoughts over and over in your mind...try getting up, making a cuppa, having a read for twenty minutes until you drop off again.

"Boots" do some very good tablets called "Sleepeaze" one a night...(for short term use only)...take one a couple of hours before you go to bed, you should sleep like a baby. (No prescription needed, they cost just over a fiver)

Remember when you get up, any problems you have will still be there, so what good has it done worrying about them in bed for three hours?

^ OK, I accept this is easier said than done..:)

And finally, don't drink any stimulants like coffee, just before you go to bed.

All these things are certainly worth a try.

Well I don't think tea has the same effect as coffee, but I may be wrong though.....

Yes, Horlicks or hot milk would probably be good.

The thing is, I think it just breaks that cycle of just lying there for hours mulling things over, which is definitely a negative.

Yeah, from time to time I git the pre dawn worries

I did what you suggested, got up, made a brew, switch the telly on or read

Poetry is actually very good for this as you read a passage and it makes your mind wander and before you know it your more relaxed

I believe to stop worrying you just have to accept that things happen in life..Good,bad,evil etc etc.
If you learn to accept the fact that his is how the world is then I honestly think you will not worry at all.
I don't worry about money-I accept what I have
I dont worry about my health-I keep myself in shape and if an illness takes me then I have tried my best to prevent it.
I don't worry about my job-It is stressful, but I dont worry about it. I think I am lucky to have a well paid job.

I do however worry about my children as they are innocents in everything and only we as adults can protect them until they mature.

You need to stop worrying..especially over that bloody £50 thread. The money is mine..So just accept it and stop worrying.

Simples...
