Worst bands or solo artist you have seen live

Def Leppard at Download Festival a few years back. Said how much it meant for them to be back at Donnington, then proceeded to give a very wooden, corporate gig feeling performance. Love that band too.

Disturbed at the GMex a decade or so back, his voice was shot and he couldn't do it.

A band called Pretty Boy Floyd last year, still trying to live the 80s life and came on stage so messed up he couldn't sing his own songs.

Seen Leppard numerous times from being a support act to headliners. They have never been the greatest live act but they have got better over the years IMO.

Re. the above, I've heard — too many times for it not to be true — a similar thing about the jazz pianist Keith Jarrett. He absolutely hates people taking photos with flashes (which I can understand, to be fair) or people making bootleg recordings of his concerts on their mobiles (also understandable). He has often threatened to walk off the stage, and has done it.
But he seems to be an utter, complete dickhead in other respects. I knew someone who went to a concert of his in Paris, and for the first fifteen minutes he made the most unholy row, while his accompanying musicians of many years(Gary Peacock, Jack DeJohnette) just stood around talking to each other. They'd obviously seen this before. His aim was clearly, you've got to really want to listen to me, so first I'm going to put you through this, and then if you've survived, you've earned the right to be at my concert. Staggeringly arrogant. Unfortunately, the guy told me that the concert that followed was one of the most brilliant things he'd ever heard. Two hours of pure generosity. So what do you do?

Yeah had a similar experience with Gary Clarke jnr, I drove from New Orleans to Austin to see him. Turns out Austin was a fucking great city. Anyway the first hour of the gig it was like him doing a soundcheck, it was bizarre he would stop an fuck about with the speakers, sing half a song literally fucking about. After an hour of this and people starting to lose patience he just turned it on, unreal gig doing covers of old blues songs great night.

Another weird one was Lou Reed, the gig was fine but in the show he had a ta chi instructor dancing or whatever on the side of the stage. To close the show he played walk on the wild side but the fucking ta chi lad sang it, my older brother was going apeshit at the time.

In the early seventies I went to see Curved Air at the Free Trade Hall. They were absolutely terrible. My mate and I left after about 20 minutes and went to the bar where we got talking to lead singer from the support band (I cant remember who it was) and he was scathing about them. Basically said he had to listen to that s..t every night.

Pretty Boy Floyd.
Wow, that takes me back.

love me some 80s rock/metal/glam.
Enuff z’ Nuff & Faster Pussycat played in my home town a few years ago.
Gutted I couldn’t make it.

Perhaps bands have an off day like a footballer does. The venue might be bad with dodgy sound etc.
