i was at that chelsea away in the milk cup too, pissed it down for most of the game and the stand we were in had no roof
there was a few more than 200 there, nearer 400, i'd say 1/2 were lads, seem to remember we tried to invade the pitch at one point. for some reason i can't remember how we got down to the ground but i do remember the police escorting us to the tube stn so it might have been the train.
also went to the jim tolmie game the previous season. remember how i went to that one, yelloways 'luxury' coach from Midd. got down to london and the driver didn't know where stamford bridge was (typical yelloways at the time), so we're driving alongside the thames and stopped the coach to ask this guy who was walking his dog for directions. so the guy (and his dog) get on the bus and stay with us all the way to the ground. chelsea away was a bit of a nightmare in those days but no headhunter touched us with this guy and his chiwawa (sp) leading us!!!
worst city performance was newcastle away (83-84??) we lost 5-0 when it was us, newc, chelsea & weds going for promotion. alex williams was in goal and even tho' he conceded 5 his performance that day was one of the best i've ever seen from a city goalkeeper. got back to the coach after the game and all the windows along one side had been put through (yelloways again), long & cold journey home.
oops, just noticed the title is worst 'night'. ok, hull city away full members cup semi final, got beat but that cup didn't mean a great deal, it was the journey home that made it the worst - we got back to the car after the game, started to drive home and realised could only use 1st & 2nd gears, still came home on the m62 but had to keep stopping to refill the engine with oil, i know, i know, should have gone with yelloways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
