Worst ever night watching City?

Under Frank Clark a Friday night championship game where bottom of the table Huddersfield Town beat us at Maine Road 0-1 whilst proceeding to completely play us 'off the park'. Perhaps the worse City performance I've ever seen.

Riots outside the Main Stand after as it well and truely 'kicked off'.

Others have already been mentioned but I think this one had slipped under the radar. Truely sickening night and then I knew we were in real, real trouble and thus went onto be relegated again a few months later.

Same for me mate.
Didn't want to do a duplicate post so read through from page 1 as this is the one match where desperation turned into anger for me.
As I remember Andy Morrison was playing for them and was the best player on the pitch....which didn't mean much at the time.
Seen some shit in my time, was desperately disappointed in '81 but very pissed in the only stronghold we had in the upper part of the east end so that lessened the blow.
Stoke away (day) was bad and the cc at the rags was hard to bear but the Huddersfield game always stands out in my mind as a low point of players that couldn't be arsed.
Remember going onto Maine Rd and giving it 'you're not fit to wear the shirt' after the game. Very hard to bear at the time and probably the worst football and lack of spirit I've ever seen on that night.

Two with Blackburn in the same season 06-07.

First one was the 0-3 home defeat, we were awful and just clueless but it was probably not the worst game i have seen, it was the fact that with 10 mins to go i was talking to my two mates and just laughing and joking about stuff as we were going out straight after into town (think it was a 5.30pm kick off), i didn't even flinch when the 3rd went in in the last minute, just sat there and talked, that to me looking back just shows how much passion i had lost that season.

Second was the QF of the FA Cup, they were there for the taking and again we were clueless, that fact that we were singing for Mpenza to come on summed it up, not even going to mention the off the pitch stuff.

The 4-3 against Sunderland when Hughes got sacked, was so annoyed at how the club went about the sacking, went to a party later and had a rag come over and gloat. Safe to say i went home after 10 minutes of that party, even angrier than before, remember getting home and smashing a mug. Never been so annoyed at city. Ever

Why? Because we had sacked a manager and replace him with a better one? :)

I've only ever seen one night game with City. Come up from London two seasons back on the 9.30am cheap national express bus, hung around Manchester by myself til kick off, Everton beat us at home, waited til the 12am national express back to London, was already hungover and it stopped at all the airports on the way home with barely no leg room. All up took about 22 hours. Tim Cahill the prick

charlton at home, won 3-1.
Gene Kelly stand, pissed down entire game.
i had a brand new Henri lloyd 'yachting' coat on which was supposed to be waterproof, i may as well had a coat made out of kitchen roll on.
And to top it all they played 'why does it always rain on me' at half time over the tannoy !

fulham away friday night
beat 3-0
pissed it down
minibus broke down on the way home
keegan was in charge of them

I'd shudder to think what the attendances would've been had City not been taken over and either retained Pearce or replaced him with someone cheap. Read somewhere that a group of 12 who sat together weren't renewing any of their Seasoncards because they didn't feel they'd been entertained that season.

We scored more goals in the 6-0 win over Pompey and the 5-1 over Hull than we scored in that entire league season at home.

The CC Semi & 8-1 at Boro are right up there (though had my Andy Warhol 15 mins of fame at the latter:Save Our Sven-MCFC Is not a Toy !!)

The worst though was the 4-3 because of where I watched it. Just got off a 12 hour flight to Hong Kong hours earlier and dragged my Mackem wife to watch it in Irish pub in Kowloon.
Wore my City shirt and endured 1 hour of local TV brainwashing build up that the Moonies would have been proud of to extent it made me want to vomit...imagine a crowd at local stadium 99% decked out in Red and 2 "City fans" who looked like they had to wear the shirts to redress the balance.
I was only Blue in pub surrounded by 200+ local plastics and Irish hangers on. I wanted to kill by the end and my wife wisely dragged me out for my own safety.

Lincoln in the cup was poor. We was in the North stand and they ran out of draught beer. So pissed off and in need of a drink, that we had bottled guinness, which was out of date and tasted shite.

West Ham in FAC was a bad un.

Carling Cup defeats were always hard to take. I always viewed that as our best opportunity to get to a semi final. The Doncaster one was a killer. I'd heard Sun Jihai was playing in midfield, so stuck £2.50 first and last goal on him at 40/1. In the last minute the gormless twat hit the crossbar from about 6 yards with an open net.

West Brom in the CC last season was a downer. Me & the Fat Hombre decided to go at the last minute, so was rushing about like a blue arsed fly for tickets and lifts. Seemed worth it when Jo scored. Having to walk all the way round the ground after getting beat pissed me off no end. In the car on the way home, we heard Chelsea & Liverpool had both been knocked out. Thought we'd blown our best chance of a trophy YET again.
