2. Mark Halsey

Oh Graham Poll......he's just a.....

I remember he reffed an FA Cup game at Preston in 2007/8. He got that song sung a few times, then he gave us a penalty. We started singing "One Graham Poll, there's only one Graham Poll..." and he started laughing.

I came onto this thread to specifically mention Singh and Styles.

In addition to Kevin ‘not a’ Friend of Lincoln, they are some of the worst referee’s I’ve seen fuck up a match across the leagues.

Because once you’ve seen actually *bad* referees you realise that these guys look like the Messi of refereeing in comparison.

Although he got a lot of criticism towards the end of his career. With a lot of people suggesting his fame had gone to his head a bit.

His retirement was also a bit controversial from what I remember. Something about sponsorship money he was receiving, seen as compromising his independence. All a bit vague now though.

It was for blocking, frontzek on cantona, nobody appealed and when he blew everyone thought he'd given a free kick to city, I was in the Stretford end amongst the scum and they couldn't believe it. This was at a time when no penalties were given for holding or blocking but he gave one. Bent bastard

That’s right and also the ball was miles over their heads - utterly shite decision

My brother and I were still celebrating the goal when the ball was at the other end. Nothing wrong with that goal whatsoever.

Me too, it was quite incredible to see the dippers close to our goal after we had scored. No one in their team protested at all - Clemence simply made a mistake like many do coming out for the ball
