Unfortunately, this divergence is going to be very brief !Easier to choose refs who were decent. Here's my list ...
1. Pierluigi Collina
2. Mark Halsey
I'll add another when I see one.
How this list doesn't include anthony taylor or lahoz?Maybe we should have suggestions for the worst referees that posters have witnessed and then maybe we could have a vote to crown the winner. I'll start of with, in no particular order
Alf Gray
Lee Mason
Rob Styles
Mark Crappenbent
Howard Red
Old Mother Riley
Steve Bennett
(More to follow as I remember them)
This could be a long list.
I remember he reffed an FA Cup game at Preston in 2007/8. He got that song sung a few times, then he gave us a penalty. We started singing "One Graham Poll, there's only one Graham Poll..." and he started laughing.Oh Graham Poll......he's just a.....
I came onto this thread to specifically mention Singh and Styles.Gurnam Singh
Rob Styles
Keith Stroud
Because once you’ve seen actually *bad* referees you realise that these guys look like the Messi of refereeing in comparison. How this list doesn't include anthony taylor or lahoz?
You see,I was rightDid you forget Peter Walton? Just for clarity (someone had to ask).
Collina is in a class of one, no one gets close.
You never seen City v Chelsea match thenBecause once you’ve seen actually *bad* referees you realise that these guys look like the Messi of refereeing in comparison.
Although he got a lot of criticism towards the end of his career. With a lot of people suggesting his fame had gone to his head a bit.
His retirement was also a bit controversial from what I remember. Something about sponsorship money he was receiving, seen as compromising his independence. All a bit vague now though.
That’s right and also the ball was miles over their heads - utterly shite decisionIt was for blocking, frontzek on cantona, nobody appealed and when he blew everyone thought he'd given a free kick to city, I was in the Stretford end amongst the scum and they couldn't believe it. This was at a time when no penalties were given for holding or blocking but he gave one. Bent bastard
Me too, it was quite incredible to see the dippers close to our goal after we had scored. No one in their team protested at all - Clemence simply made a mistake like many do coming out for the ballMy brother and I were still celebrating the goal when the ball was at the other end. Nothing wrong with that goal whatsoever.
